Hi,

I am in the middle of finalizing my application and I am reading about the common mistakes people make... in order to hopefully avoid them.

I read that it is good to include a cover letter, but from the guides that are provided by the government, it seems to me that the checklist IMM 5533 should be the first thing in the application. Hence, I feel like it may be best not to include any cover letter.

Any inputs would be very welcome.

A cover letter is not necessary.

Not a cover letter but more like a personal statement. If there is any info you want to tell them and its not on the forms you can write one. For example you think its not clear how you guys met and want to explain. If you think its all clear you probably dont need one.

There is a question at the end if one of the forms (sponsorship questionnaire maybe) that says something like "is there anything else you want to tell us about your relationship" There is a box to write in or you can refer to them to a following page(s).
