I am also immigrating from the UK, but to Ontario instead and I am applying for express entry as a skilled worker. Everything online says I dont need a medical exam unless I am working in certain fields or coming from certain countries.

If you’re applying for Permanent Residency in Canada, you will be required to undergo a medical examination. Don’t pay attention to your current application status, when you get to that stage, your medical request will be sent.

Yes. That is only relevant to a temporary resident visa (TRV). PR status is not a "visa".
