Hey guys,

I'm drawing up my reference letter and I'm having an issue with my main duties. Personally, I only do two of the four duties noted under the NOC code. Not because it isn't my job to do them, this is just how we split the workload in my department. I work in film so I only have a very generic contract that doesn't specify job roles or duties. Will two out of four suffice?

Hi there,

As long as it makes sense and it's within the parameters of your NOC code it will make sense to the officer in charge of your application. If you share your NOC code and duties on this forum, you can get more help and feedback.

By the way your employee needs to compose your reference letter, not you. I understand some employees are too lazy to do that, and if it's up to you, then I think you can tweak it here and there.

All the best,

Thank you so much for your response!

My NOC Code is 5227 and my job is a Production Assistant. The duties in the Noc are, provide support to the director and producer, and are responsible for various aspects of production such as preparing schedules, setting up equipment, and making travel arrangements to various shooting locations. However, I only provide support to the director and producer and set up equipment, other people in my department prepare the schedules and make the travel arrangements.

Yes I know. When I asked my Production Manager though he told me to write my own and send it so he could look over it and sign

this is basically what is happening to me. I'm using NOC 1241 administrative assistant for my application, but my job title was customs clerk that belongs to 1452 class C. I changed it because I did more duties of 1241 than that of 1452, and overall I feel the job itself was much more complicated. My employer signed the letter I drafted for NOC 1241 and I hope it will be fine. Will be submitting next month.
