Yes your PRTD approval would likely be seen as a liability. You would need to have guardians in place. Also a risk because your parents could complain that you had been illegally taken out of the country.

Your sister likely had a PR card that wasn't expired and she got lucky if she hadn't met her residency obligation.

I see so the most logical thing would be to try for guardianship. I was also looking at other options like sponsorship? Would it be possible for my sister to sponsor me?

Yes actually I just realized how silly I was. She definitely had a valid PR card at the time.

No sponsorship is not an option since your parents are still alive.

Although there have been occasion cases of people applying for a PRTD based on being removed as a child, chances are pretty good that you will be approved even at 18. You may be able to convince them your sister will be your guardian, but that would likely require a financial commitment from her. The concern would be if the government has to support you during those 2 years until you are 18. You need to be prepared for a refusal and an appeal. Chances of being allowed to enter Canada during the appeal will be up to IRCC as you haven’t been in Canada in the last year.

You should really be looking at other schooling options in SA because I also think your chances of approval are pretty low as a minor but get better at 18. Not guaranteed though. You need to try and finish high school in SA because it will be easier for you if you arrive in Canada having been out of school for a couple of years.

Okay yes, in the application I included letters from both my sisters of their financial records as well as letters from the both of them stating they are willing to take care of me. I am just hoping that they will see it’s only two years. Yes I am bracing myself for a refusal. Quite honestly I don’t see the application being approved. But I will continue to try.

I see. Currently looking at possible schooling options. But more than that it’s just the environment and the mental toll it has. But I have no control over decisions made by immigration. I’ll have to accept whatever happens but it would be nice if I can be out of here sooner rather than later.

Unfortunately letters from your sisters aren't legally binding. Many children staying with family members end up in foster care and the tax payer becomes responsible for them. Try to focus on things that you can control like getting good grades. That will hopefully open doors for you to escape your circumstances. Best of luck.
