Hi,

I am looking for information regarding sponsorship eligibility if my partner just started to received payments as a care giver for her mom who is critically ill, the payments are made through Ontario works. I am just confused as she is classed as a 24/7 care giver does that still make her ineligible to sponsor me as a spouse?

If so what are the repercussions of having receiving the payments? She has just received her first payment today. Will we have to cancel it, and if so, how long should we wait to apply for the sponsorship? Is it just a case of cancelling the payments and applying when its cancelled and she doesn't go back on them for the whole time?

Thanks,
Ciaran

Not sure if those payments will be considered welfare benefits or social assistance.

The sponsor should be eligible if they are not receiving welfare benefits or in bankruptcy proceedings.
