Hi @DelPiero07

Can you pls suggest whether someone at A2 level or early B1 level can try to read your books & get at least a CLB 5 in three modules of TEF & at least CLB 7 in one of the modules? & about speaking can you suggest some ways of practicing and improve very fast?

Lastly, how many hours at minimum one should invest to go above A2 level from scratch? thank you so much in advance.
It is not common to see anyone under B2 level attempt the TEF test so I cannot say whether what you're trying to achieve is doable or not. IMO though a person with A2 level is going to have an extremely rough time with this test.

I had a private tutor so simply by speaking the language during class I was able to improve quickly. Also, it took me almost 3 months to finish A2 by taking classes of 6 hrs per week.

Hi,

I am thinking to learn French for TEF, could you help me with approach I should take ?

Should I do a self study or should I join the classes.

My target is CLB 7, so if I learn 2 hours each day through class or self study how many days you think it will take to get to CLB7 (B2)

I know quite a bit of speculation however just want estimation and as you have went through this your expert comment would be valuable...

The realistic target should be at least one year. I keep getting messages of people who are trying to get it done (CLB 7) in 2 or 3 months while learning from scratch and that is pretty much impossible.

Like I said in my post I learned with a private tutor and I did end up getting CLB 7 in all 4 sections. I probably wouldn't have been able to do it by studying on my own.

Thank you...how much time did you take and did you start from scratch...?

Hi DelPiero,

Since I have pretty much exhausted all practical ways to improve my CRS, I'm seriously considering preparing for the TEF.

I would be extremely grateful to you if you can kindly share the preparation material with me at jpsingh77a@gmail.com

Thank you very much.

Hello everyone,

By taking TEF exam, how many scores can be added to my crs? Is it true that one can get just 15 or 30 (based on his or her test resul)? In that case there's no, for example, 10 or 20 points which can be added to my crs, is it right?

Thank you!

You can get 30 extra points if you obtain CLB 7 in all four sections and your English scores are all CLB 5 or higher.

Added to those 30 extra points you will also receive points for every section depending on your CLB - so if you get CLB 7 in all sections for example that would be 3 extra points per section = 3 x 4 = 12 + 30 = 42 extra points.

To be honest, I'm a bit puzzled about how this extra pints related to TEF works. For instance, what level of French is required to achieve at least adittionl 15 crs points.

Your help is very much appreciated.

For the extra 15 points you would need CLB 7 in all sections and CLB 4 in all English sections. This is a bit ridiculous unless you are planning to use French as your first language as you wouldn't meet the language requirements with CLB 4 in either CEC or FSW.

Well, I do not understand the necessity of CLB 4 in English. It's fairly obvious that anyone goes for TEF as a second language has that CLB 4 in English. I cannot figure that out!

That's why the 15 points are pretty much irrelevant to anyone who is choosing English as a first language. Your goal are the 30 points not the 15.
