Hi, I have been scouring the net in hopes of finding out whether my cousins who want to come visit me in Canada from Serbia would be able to prove strong ties to home country if their employment is online-based freelance work. Does anyone have experience or advice on this? They haven't applied yet as we are in the process of putting together an invitation letter for them. They do have other side jobs as well but their primary income is online-based as they work for an US company. I am unsure if this is looked at positively as a stable employment with good pay or not?
I would appreciate any advice greatly.

Maybe better for them to show that they are contractors for this US company, receiving payments on a regular basis, rather than freelance.

Hi thanks for your reply. Do you think that would apply to a situation where they are paid by different people for different projects online via a US-based website that essentially provides for the employers and freelancers to match and connect? They are paid in US currency but I am not sure how to categorize this type of work.

Oh you mean, like Freelancer or something similar? My bad, they are freelancers then.

Yeah, I think they would be considered freelancers. I am not sure if this is an issue for getting the visa, whether they see it as a strong tie to home country or not? If anyone knows I would appreciate your insight.

Unless their income is very significant from their freelance work, it's not a strong enough tie, I'm afraid.

I had heard of contractors working online for employers in the US getting their TRVs approved, that's why I had suggested it, but in that case, it was only the one employer over many years.
