Is spouse name Mandatory in passport while applying for PR?

Hi
I am from India and I just wanted a clarification. I have a marriage certificate. Do I still need to update Spouse name in my passport ? Currently the field for Spouse name is Blank in my passport and the validity is good 10 years.
On canada immigration page, I didn’t see any such requirement. All they asked for was marriage certificate for the proof of marriage.

For Canada, there is no requirement for spouse names in passports. Many passports don't even offer this option.
