I'm seeing this on my spouse's application. So here is the story:

Since February 14, 2018, CIC has changed its regulations in regard to police certificates to be provided by applicants - Please see CIC's Operation Bulletin (OB) 633 available at https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/bulletins-2016/633-december-15-2016.html -

Prior to the OB release, applicants had to provide a police certificate for every country where an applicant had resided for 6 months or more. It goes without saying that CIC's processing agents were well aware of the regulation change before the release of the February 14, 2018, OB 633 release. On February 8th, my spouse received her AOR and the CIC letter requesting from her to upload her schedule A and the police certificate. I called the CIC call center today; while the agent on the phone was not aware of the OB release [ Did not expect him to know because phone agents are not trained on IRPA (Immigration and Refugee Protection Act) ]...he did, however, tell me that the "Your Action is Required" message is a glitch on the CIC website. My guess on this is that because the OB was just released (8 days ago), CIC's website has not yet been updated to take the OB change into consideration.

Hope this helps Incroyable! ;)
Thanks for sharing! ;)

Hi everyone,

I think I was able to successfully link my OWP. But, under the application type it says "online application." I submitted it in paper with the PR application. Has anyone else experienced this?

When I searched for the OWP I chose: APPLIED PERMANENT RESIDENCE THROUGH SPOUSE SPONSORSHIP.

It should be correct since I followed the steps but it's weird it says "online application."

Same here. My husband applied for OWP along with the PR application. It is showing as "online" after it was linked under his account.

Thank you so much! I successfully linked my application under PR but I'm having trouble with linking my OWP. Any tips?
Have you already linked your OWP too? If not, I can maybe help you with tips :)

Hi crystarclear, yes! I was able to link it successfully this morning. Thank you so much for asking.

After submitting Sch A and PCC, we just have to wait right?
Yes. I guess patience would be our virtue from now on lol.

Hi all, very happy be here. I am just new to this forum, and also applied the inland spouse visa. Here are my timeline:
20180117 CIC received
20180220 AOR and successfully linked account, as well as OPW
20180220 Schedule A requested

How long it will take for the SA? My husband is citizen, but he is still studying in university, so I am really worry about his eligibility to be a sponsor. You know, no income, but do have some savings. Anyone knows that is it a problem if he is still a student?

Hello yvonne419,

Please note that there is no minimum income set in order to sponsor a spouse. However, the principal applicant
  • must not be receiving welfare benefits from any province.
  • must not be in bankruptcy proceedings, and previous bankruptcy claim must have been discharged.
If the principal applicant is a student and is receiving student aid, that should not cause any issue either.

Based on what you wrote, you are totally fine.

Hope this helps.

Sure! Yes, there is a separate OWP application you can also link through your online account via Sign-in Partner or GCkey (whichever you already have)

TO LINK OPEN WORK PERMIT (This is what I did, hope this works for you too)

Category: Temporary Resident

Sub-category: Work Permit and Extension

➡︎ Use UCI and Family Name

➡︎ Do NOT enter anything in the town/city of birth and Country

Enter Passport Information:

↳ Passport Number

↳ Country of Issue

↳ Issue Date and Expiry Date

Details of intended work in Canada

Type of Work Permit: Open (Initial Application or Extension

Personal Information:

↳ Current Country of Residence: Canada

↳ Current Marital Status

↳ Which situation applies to the applicant: Applied for permanent residence as a spouse or common-law partner in Canada

Hope this helps.

followed your instruction but it says : the application number you entered does not match the category! any idea?
(we have received only one file number for our spousal sponsorship)
Yes, that application number you received was for the PR. No app number for OWP was sent. That's why you have to use your UCI and family name instead.
