Have anyone applied US Visitor Visa with COPR? It looks like I will get PR card only in April. Though I won't be travelling until then. But I am thinking to apply earlier. Please share your experience if you have information.

yes you can apply. but you can travel only after you will receive your pr card.

Thanks ntwkengg. I have no plans to travel before pr card. did you applied or going to apply?

ya right if you travel by land (autos) then copr is enough once you get US visitor visa. but still i feel its risky.

certainly it is risky to reenter without pr card

It isn't risky at all. There is no requirement to have a PR card when entering Canada. The card is required by commercial carriers for a person to travel to Canada. There is no issue entering either on foot or in a private car at Canada-US border with only the COPR.

I applied for US visitor visa when my application was in process and I got 5 years multiple entry b1/b2 visa. If you apply after getting the PR card, you will get 10 years multiple entry, if everything goes fine. Probably the same thing with COPR. They just ask you if you are a PR of Canada and you can use your COPR as a proof. Best of luck.

Hi Experts,

Hope you are doing well.

I have recently got my COPR from Canada, have plan to visit soon and activate the PR. Before Activating the PR, I am planning to travel to US with Family for Vacation.

While filling DS-160 Form, There was a question for Permanent Residency for any other country other than Origin. Can you please help with you expert advise on mentioning Canadian PR status on the application.

Thank you.

You are not a PR until you finish the landing process.

Thank you so much for Prompt Response.

So in DS-160, I should mention No for Residency Column but In case Visa Officer ask for it as I have counterfoil on my Passport?

You can show him your unsigned COPR.

Guys I have a question:
My PR is in the process and I will apply for b1/b2 visa, I am scared little bit what would be if I get refused for visa in the middle of my PR application? Would that cause any problems ?
