hi everyone,

My husband got an interview request for later this week. I know it isn’t always a good thing but most applicants get one anyways from my VO. However, in the email they indicate for him to bring his passport. Does this mean he is most likely going to get his visa? Is this a good thing?

Thanks!

Wouldn't read too much into that request. Probably more likely a means of confirming his identity.

Good luck to you, we are in the same boat for next month. I imagine the worse case scenario now for everything ... as most things I expected would happen with our app didn't go as I thought it would. Now I go into this thinking of the worse case scenario that we will get rejected, then it won't be so hard to take when it happens and anything else is a bonus. Waiting 13 months like this has caused me to lose optimism.

You got an interview date, finally?!

Yep, theirs is on March 19. Good luck to them, by the way! I feel the same though, not optimistic at all. I also imagine the worst scenario, this is what the process does to you.

Yes, he got an interview date and this ominous letter saying that if he cannot attend the interview, they will assume that he is not interested in coming to Canada and his application will be refused. That is all they say .... he was officially summoned for March 19. I am going to go down there now, as he was going to come here at that time. If I don't go who knows how much longer it will take, assuming they approve his application, it could still take a few months ... I'm sure it will take longer than we think as this has always been the case since we submitted. I'm not waiting any longer to see my guy!

Just remember that you got approved! It's going to happen and all these bad feelings will be a thing of the past!

I agree with Majesty! You got approved, and that is reason for celebration! It will all be anecdotal one day, at least that is what we keep telling ourselves lol.

Geez.. that is intense. Ok, well I am so glad you are able to organize things to be there for it.. that is no small feat! Good luck and I can't wait to celebrate digitally with you guys when this is all over for you.

Hey @canadianlovee I can’t imagine how stressed you must feel, but it wont help the process. Try to keep yourself positive. I spoke to immigration lawyer about the interview process (as I was curious about it in case we get called in too) and he mentioned that its best if the couple show up together for the interview if its a possibility financially etc. He also said to be prepared for the strangest and most personal questions. You just have to answer as honestly as possible without getting nervous - I think sometimes they try to push your buttons to test you. The other thing he mentioned is if they ask you “what will you do if i reject you?” - you apparently need to emphasize that you would move to the PA’s country or somewhere else to be together because otherwise it just looks like Canada is the reason you are together.

I think there is a good thread with sample interview questions you guys can take a look at :) Just keep yourself informed!

Well, I am taking a night course right now and it doesn't end until March 23. Supposedly you can only miss one class, but in order to go for a week, I will have to miss 2 classes. I am going to see if the instructor will let me do this. Hopefully it's OK, since this is kind of important. Wish me luck. I hope we have something to celebrate after the interview, but I don't think we can go into this thinking it is going to be a positive outcome. So far not much has gone our way with this process, so we'll just have to wait and see what happens ...
