Good evening everyone,

Something I’d like to pick your brain on:

My wife applied for her citizenship in August 2017, she got her “Decision Made” status change early December and waiting for the oath invitation.

I know a couple close friends who (incidentally) applied before her and after her. Both of them got their oath letter!

We’re talking about the same processing office, and assuming that a “Decision Made” status means... Decision made!

I called the CIC helpline in the hope of getting some clarification as to why she’s still waiting and our friends were not... They did confirm that all verifications were completed and she’s indeed waiting for the oath invitation but couldn’t tell me why there was a longer delay IN BETWEEN two other applicants who both got their decision made BEFORE and AFTER her respectively!!!

Anyone has any insight to share on this mysterious “queuing” algorithm that CIC is using to assign oath dates?

Thanks!

Well, if anything, it has been established that IRCC doesn't do FIFO. There is no order or system in which people get oath invites. Could be that they place processed applications that are awaiting oath in different piles. Some get picked up before others.

No point thinking about it. Just be glad it's the last time you have to deal with Immigration services.

Indeed. We’re crossing the fingers. This was by far the worst entity I’ve ever dealt with. The majority of people I dealt with were extremely unprofessional. During my own application (wife sponsorship and citizenship), I requested several ATIP requests and sometimes, they forgot to trim some internal notes. Subpar and in some instances, close to racist remarks. In one instance I even received a letter full of typos that someone didn’t even bother spellchecking. I keep it as proof for their incompetence.

Anyway, enough with my rants!

as per your signature ,, your timeline was a long hassle ,, the awkward part when you have a meeting with them ,, they sound very nice and kind ,, but late you will find that they are nuts ,,
anyways I got my share ,, I hade to withdraw an application and re-apply just because I arrived on my first application citizenship application ,,

I don’t think they’re nuts, merely “blasé” to the point of not caring anymore. Just like someone repeating the same task over and over again to the point of dehumanizing it. You may run into someone who’s fresh and active every once in a while but generally that’s my experience. Very disappointing overall.

Apologies for the delay to reply. No, it’s the Montreal office. My wife’s application.
Hi there, we'are also still waiting since "decision made" status appeared on January 31, 2018 (Montreal office).
I hope you've got the oath invitation for your wife yet, and everything's fine! If so, please let me know. Thanks in advance!
