Help! Is the medical exam really required to get visa extension?

Hi guys,

I heard that I will need to do a medical exam for the visa extension. (I am from the listed country)
But, my problem is: I cannot stay until the originally planned date. I will instead leave right after I receive the visa.
Do I need to do the exam before getting my extended visa?

What can I do? I don't want to spend huge money for nothing...

If the app was sent online, Cic usually asks for a medical exam but then they make a decision even before receiving the exam. I understand that if the app is closed you do not need to send it, just in case you want to app again for sure you will need to send it.
Whether the extension becomes invalid in case you do not send it, I can't confirm.

I suggest you to wait until the last week of your deadline. If they close your app before receiving your exam, you could call them to make sure if you will still need to send it.

Incorrect. As already stated above, if the medical is requested for an extension app, it must be completed or the extension will be void. The Visitor Record will have a stipulation on it stating that the approval is conditional upon the medical being done within the time frame given.

Do you have the information coming from CIC? Because I answered based on my opinion once it happened to me, I didn't send it and my visitor record didn't arrive with any note regarding the medical exam.
Maybe they do not do it with all applications. That is why I suggested him (if you read my other post) to call CIC and confirm.

I am on the same boat but CIC requested a medical exam. So they requested and the next day my app was closed (?). Did the same happened to you? So you never sent and got the extension? Thank you

Yes, the same happened to me.
I sent the medical afterwards. I received my VR before sending the medical and it didn't say anything related to the exam. However, I sent it because I knew I was going to ask for another extension and didn't want to have any issue.
2 friends of mine did not send the medicals. But when they applied for a second extension they were required to send the medicals as a mandatory document to complete the application.
