I received the invitation for oath on Jan 17, unfortunately I have to travel for work and the business trip was all confirmed and booked. I tried to contact CIC by calling the customer service but was not able to speak to agent...Anyone had similar experience? What would be the best way to reschedule? I remember my officer for the interview and test told me I need to send an mail if I cannot attend the ceremony on the scheduled date..That sounds very inefficient...
Do not ever try to reschedule an important event like oath. You will be put to last of the queue and with huge surge in C6 apps, the wait can be painful

Happy New Year all. I took my test last month and have my Oath Ceremony on January 16th. On the day of my test, I was given my oath invitation, it was a prewritten letter that the officer just wrote my name and file number on. I submitted the letter to my employer to apply for a miscellaneous day but it was declined as my name was handwritten. Does anyone know if there is a way to get a more "official" letter?

Indeed. I think this is also for my situation. I told them in the post-exam interview with judge I couldn't attend from 8th to 15th of December for final exams (when I noticed many ppl who took the test on my date were scheduled), I feel like this also delayed my oath/ceremony invite putting me to the back of the line. The judge had in initially told me to expect a December invite, and they did one in late December not to mention two in early Jan. Made me paranoid.

You Need to to have a serious talk with your boss if they don’t believe you tell them you will bring a copy of the certificate when you get it,either they don’t know how important it is are someone is jealous of you.

Show them you logging into CIC's website to check app status, should have your updated status there. If he keeps denying, tell him you're taking the day off and in many jurisdictions the oath/ceremony can be attended by the public, and there will be pictures/video of the event. I can't imagine bosses being allowed to tell you that you can't attend your oath/ceremony especially with advanced notice, but moreover, if one would fire or discipline me for attending, sounds like a crappy place to work and I'd look for employment elsewhere.

I wanna ask my last paranoid question in this forum before getting my citizenship :)
My surname in citizenship application contains the letter "Ç" as in my foreign passport. But all my government issued IDs have that letter as "C" including my tax file. Would it create an issue in my passport application as my supporting identification documents will not have the exact same surname? I can still use my foreign passport as an ID but I am not sure about it as they may suspect my residence here.

Hi guys, they sent me an oath invitation, please update:
"We sent you a notice on January 2, 2018 to appear and take the oath of citizenship at the citizenship ceremony to be held on February 2, 2018..."

And a big thank you to all of you for sharing your timeline and answering the questions. You were really helpful. Thanks :)

Guys, just finished my test today at Scarborough. It was smooth. Test was 20/20. Finished in 5-6 minutes i guess. Once finished we were asked to wait in another room where several CO were taking interviews with the candidates that finished earlier than me. I was called in after about 5 minutes and the officer first asked to see the ID cards and then asked few questions about my job and my job responsibilities. Asked about the company i worked for. Asked why my wife is yet to apply. At last he went over the passport seals - which was unusual as i thought PP would be the first thing they would want to see. Anyway, after everything he confirmed that everything looks fine and I should receive email for Oath soon.

Overall all interview took about 5 minutes. Nice experience. CO was a gentleman and very helpful. BTW, i took the transcript and birth certificate with me and he did not even ask for it.

Good luck to all of you guys waiting for test! Just read the materials. Its not a biggie!

Just saw a missed call from my building door - apparently Canada Post came to deliver my passport but I was at work. They said I can pick it up tomorrow at the post office. Yay! My freedom is close!:D
For those asking about calls to guarantor and references - they did call my guarantor but did not call references.

Got a message from eCAS saying that "We sent you a notice on January 3, 2018 to appear and take the oath of citizenship at the citizenship ceremony to be held on February 5, 2018 at 8:00 AM. The notice you will receive will be your official confirmation of your appointment. If you have not received this notice prior to the date of your scheduled appointment, please contact us."

Please update my status. Thanks for all of you for sharing the timeline and offering the supports! Really appreciate it!

Do you have to sign for it? It doesn't come on regular mail?
