Hi All,

Apologies, firstly, for asking a vague question but nevertheless, that is the situation I find myself in right now. I have decided to apply for the Canadian PR. I am an Indian working currently in the Middle East.

I have several queries that I could not find a concrete answer for and hence, trying my luck here.

1) How can I check if my current occupation falls under the skilled/ unskilled labor group? I am a Customer Services - Supervisor in the automotive retail industry with over 10 years experience. This does not show in the SOL specifically but when checked with an Immigration consultant and he says that it checks out as fine. That leaves me totally confused on whether the agent is just trying to lure me in for his commission.

2) I have a full time diploma in Mechanical Engineering based on which I am employed in this field. I also have got a Bachelors in Science done through Distance Mode from Annamalai University. How can I check if this university's degree (distance mode) is accepted by the Canadian Authorities before initiating the transcript process.

3) How do I create my profile for application and do I need the IELTS results while I do so or can it be uploaded later (Test is in February 2018).

For starters, these are the queries that if resolved, could help me a great deal in going about this.
Thanks, Deepesh.

1) There's no occupation list for the Express Entry / Federal Skilled Worker program. However only job experience under NOC A, B and 0 is considered.
2) You can try checking the WES web site to see if your schools are recognized. However the only way to confirm is to submit your transcripts for evaluation.
3) You cannot set up an Express Entry profile until after you have written the IELTS exam and have your results.

Thanks scylla for the prompt response. How do i check if my work experience falls under the NOC A, B & 0 category?

So according to you, my first step should be to get done with the IELTS exams and then setup my express entry profile. All this should be done while I get my degrees certified through WES.

Thanks for that. Much clearer to me now.

One more question - How and when do I apply for the provincial nomination program. Do they nominate us directly from the express entry pool?

Warm Regards

Deepesh

You need to research your work experience and find out which job code (NOC) it falls under. Then you need to determine the skill level of each NOC.

You need to complete IELTS and also get your education assessed before you can set up an Express Entry profile.

The Provincial Nominee programs each work in different ways. You'll need to research them to understand what the requirements are for each and if you have to apply directly or are selected.

Any particular website or agency that could verify for me. Your recommendation?

Is it ok to apply for individual provinces a while after I have opened my express entry profile and test the waters first there.
