Hi,

My friend has a visiting visa already. Now, as he has been approved PR he was given Immigrant visa. But, he doesn't want to complete the landing before summer.

Can he come as a visitor for christmas and do the landing in summer?

Please advise!

The PR visa supercedes the visitors visa in his passport. The moment he touches down in Canada with the PR visa in his passport, he will have to complete his PR landing formalities. It would be unusual to land and refuse to do his PR landing, why did be go through the process to begin with? To avoid unnecessary questions and enquiries, just complete the landing and enjoy your visit.

Hi

Yes, CBSA generally lets people defer their landing. No guarantees though.

Incorrect. Many people have entered as visitors without landing and then completed their landing on a later entry. It is up to the CBSA officer but they are generally pretty understanding.

Noted, though I would advise that the person involved take note of the entry visa expiry and land accordingly.

Hello, I got my immigrant visa few days ago (through express entry) but without my family (wife and 3 kids, oldest being 9 years old) (because without them I was able to raise my CRS) and therefore secured an invitation.
I would like please to know if my kids can attend public schools in Ottawa (with no cost) in case I decide to bring them to Canada on visitors visa.
Thank you in advance,
Richard.

You need to contact individual schools/school boards to find out.
