Sample Contents:

The processing of your application for permanent residence in Canada is almost complete. The following is required to complete your application.

STEP 1: STATUS CHANGE (If none of these conditions applies to you, you may proceed to STEP 2)

Has your family composition changed since our last correspondence?

· Have you married or divorced?

· Have you given birth or adopted a child?

· Do you intend to get married or divorced prior to becoming a permanent resident?

· Do you intend to give birth or adopt a child prior to becoming a permanent resident?

· Have you changed your contact information: e-mail address/mailing address/telephone number?

If any of these conditions apply, you must inform CPC-O immediately:

CPC-CTD-Ottawa@cic.gc.ca

You will be asked to submit evidence such as a copy of the marriage, divorce, birth or adoption certificate or a letter advising when and where the marriage, divorce, birth or adoption is expected to take place. Any new spouse and/or children must be added to your application and be found admissible to Canada before your case is finalized. Failure to declare additional dependants such as a spouse or children before you become a permanent resident could result in the cancellation of your permanent resident visa. Once your file is closed, you would be required to submit a new application and pay new processing fees. Any new application would be assessed under the Act and Regulations in force at the time of its submission.

STEP 2: PASSPORT(S) REQUEST

We require a VALID passport for you and for each accompanying family member. Passports for you and all accompanying family members must be submitted together. There must be at least two blank visa pages in each passport. If there are children included in your passport there must be blank visa pages for them as well.

Please note that permanent resident visas cannot be issued to holders of Diplomatic, Official or Military passports. You must obtain an ordinary passport.
** Passport should have minimum 6 months of validity

If you or any of your family members are residing outside North America and you are unable to send your/their passport(s) to Canada and/or to provide a return mailing address in North America, contact us at CPC-CTD-Ottawa@cic.gc.ca so that we can make arrangements to print visas at another office.

STEP 3: SUBMIT YOUR DOCUMENTS

· If you do not have a mailing address in Canada or the U.S.A, or if you are unable to submit the required documentation for you or your accompanying family members to the addresses below, please send an email to us at CPC-CTD-Ottawa@cic.gc.ca so that we can send you instructions for submitting your documents to a visa office which is the most convenient for you. Please note that our office will not return passports to an address outside North America.

· If you have a mailing address in Canada:

- The pre-paid Xpresspost envelope must be from Canada Post. Please note that we will not return documents to a Canadian address via any other courier.

- Submit all documents by mail in a single package and send to the following address:

CPC – Ottawa – PR

PO Box 9780

Ottawa ON K1G 4B9

DO NOT FILL OUT THE ADDRESS SECTION ON YOUR CANADA POST RETURN ENVELOPE.

· If you have a mailing address in the U.S.A.:

- The Self-Addressed pre-paid envelope should be arranged with a courier that delivers between Canada and the U.S.A.

- Submit all documents by mail in a single package and send to the following address:

CPC – Ottawa – PR

365 Laurier Avenue West

Ottawa ON K1A 1L1

If you have a mailing address in Canada: To allow you to track your passports through the mail, we strongly recommend that you purchase two (2) PREPAID Canada post xpresspost envelopes at any Canada Post retail outlet. CPC-Ottawa accepts no responsibility for any passport lost in the mail.

- Fill From/To address on big one
- Most important don’t fill anything on the returning envelope (as per told in email)
- Keep a tracking number sticker from each envelope. Take a picture of each envelope (picture of tracking numbers obvious)
You can track on Canada post website or their app

- Put Annex a form(s), two pictures of each applicant (one with the stamp showing photographer address and the date of picture taken, write ur full name and date of birth underneath the stamp of address and date) original passport(s) of each applicant (if more than one applicant) (for the passport if u have more than one passport means u renewed so u need to only send recent one not both)and returning envelope

Final Note

The issuance of your visa(s) cannot be delayed so it is important for you to submit your passport(s) as soon as possible. An expiration date (dd/mm/yy) will be indicated on your visa and/or on your Confirmation of Permanent Residence (CoPR – IMM 5688), and you must obtain permanent residence on or before that date. The visas and CoPR cannot be extended. If you are not prepared to live permanently in Canada immediately after your permanent residence is granted, please consult the CIC website regarding your obligations to retain your status in Canada.

At the very end of the email there will be annex a form stating ur name/ ucid/ application/email and asking u to fill the mailing address where u want ur passport to be delivered..

Hope it helps

Hi guys. Who can give me any idea on my situation :
inland , May 19,2016 applicant + 2 independent. still waiting for DM .
Child passport will expire on august 2018. It means we have only two month. On monday I planning to call CIC and explain it, but think this will not give me any answers.
Changing passport taking time and what else I don't know.
And if we do it, should I notify them that my chld's passport has been changed..
I don `t know what to do.
I'm at a loss.
.

My child's passport will expire April 2018 so I applied for a new one and received it recently along with the cancelled old passport. I'm also inland. Youu do have a bit of time. But maybe the PR visa will only be valid to August 2018 for your child if you wait. I think you should call cic for instructions on this.

Hi usichka,

Where are u from?

I can share my Ukrainian experience.

My passport expires in June 2018. I went to Ukrainian consulate in Toronto and applied for a new one. They say it is 3 months, while it took only 1 month. I updated info through IRCC form (2 weeks). It worked.

Btw, Ukraine allows to hold 2 passports :) For example my friend has visa to usa in old one and he can still travel to usa using new. he just need to present visa in expired passport

Suggestion, do not call CIC because it is your responsibility to have your passports not expiring

If you are Ukrainian :) , I can give you more info how to get passport in Toronto
