On another note .. I am currently in Jamaica with my hubby .. so I am contemplating if that would affect my application as they might say that I am not "residing" in Canada .. do they chec with immigration during this process?
It depends on how long you are in Jamaica and what is your status in Canada (citizen or permanent resident). I mean if you are in JA for a month vacation that should not affect your app but if you are out of the country for more than 6 months may affect you. Check immigration website for the longest time you are allowed to be away from Canada base on your status.

Another note .. I realize you got through in 5 months .. do you have children with your PA? Ive noticed those who have children or applying for a spouse with dependent get through VERY quickly.

I had a friend who had her application approved and hubby landed within 4 months they have a daughter together .. and I believe another poster who applied for spouse and dependent was about 4 months too .. thoughts? in my head again? lol
Not always the case. I have dependent children but i applied in March 2017 where there was a hold up on apps being transfered to kingston dt schedule A etc.

Also keep in mind that they also stop interviews at some point in may to focus on other immigration routes. I have seen others get called for interview date in May to have their interview in September or October

I applied in October and the other day when I called they are only up to October 12, so it really doesn't matter when you apply they go in date received. I'm thinking I won't even get an acknowledgement letter until January.

Ye this is true .. I was told by an officer from KVO office a few years ago .. that summer time is generally focused on students .. and then visitors .. so I guess you are also saying to do the app now then?

NOONe thinks it will just sit there and get lost ???

Chanban, I think it was a little longer than 5. I submitted to CIC on May 4, contacted by KVO for my interview on October 4. My interview date was November 29 and got visa on that day. Im the PA. My husband and I have a son together however he was not on the application as we have done proof of citizenship and got approved few months before we submitted my application.

o Ok .. my daughter won't be included in the app. she is Canadian .. it was just a trend I was noticing but I guess I was wrong and this whole thing is completely random ..

Yes, once you have the package done completely submit it before holidays if you can. Unfortunately we have no control what will happen when our app leaves our hands. There is no reasoning where some apps get process faster than others. You can check out the time sheet of some members who applied in january to see there timeline. Hope this helps

No it will not affect your application. Once you are a citizen you can stay out the country. You leaving soon right? I would recommend applying as soon as you get back.
