If you were issued PR TD on accepted H&C reasons, then you can apply to renew your PR card immediately.

R-1 coding means you were found in compliance with the RO.
RC-1 coding means you were not in compliance with RO, but had acceptable H&C reasons to overcome it.

Seems an error was made in your PRTD visa coding, since obviously you weren't in compliance with RO. Same situation has happened to many other people on this forum. A few have reported they applied to renew PR card immediately and were successful.

So safest option is to wait in Canada 2 years. However you could also try to renew immediately since PR TD was very recently approved. Up to you which way to proceed.

Someone in that department is clueless and seems to be making the same error. Applicants who didn't meet their RO have been very lucky!

That, or the H&C reason was actually legitimate and accepted but the visa officer for whatever reason simply puts the wrong coding on the PR TD.

The OP is also very lucky it has been quite a while since he hasn't met his RO.

My take is that visa officers may be putting the R-1 coding on purpose in H&C cases as this allows IRCC in Canada to revaluate the situation when issuing a PR card. (Something that's harder for them to do in H&C cases that have been adjudicated officially.)

May just be an easy way for them to reduce their workload and have IRCC in Canada deal with it.

Can't the OP get CAIPS/GCMS notes to see if the H&C case is on his record? Or does it work differently for PRTD apps?

Hi
Did you renew your PR card after arrival?
