My husband and I got married last month and we will apply for Spouse Sponsorship in a few weeks. Can anybody help us with our questions?

- Since we just got married, does it worth it opening a joint bank account now?
- He is gonna include me on his Life Insurance. Does it work as an additional document?
- Does anybody have a template for the friends and relatives who are going to write letters affirming our relationship?

Thank you.

My husband and i got married feb 4 and app was sent on feb 27.

He is on my home insurance policy, on our cable and internet bill, a beneficiary on my rrsp and he is listed in my company benefits. If you dont have everything they are asking for you could open a joint account - but im
Sure there are more simple ways and Im not sure that you could open a joint account if your partner is not resident here in canada - i tried at 3 banks and they wouldnt let him

My husband is canadian, we both live in Canada. I just want to know if with only a few weeks of marriage it’s worth opening a joint ban account.

Thats up to you. We dont have one and its fine. We submitted our app 23 days after we got married.. we had more than enough prpof that we didnt need a joint bank account. If you have enough then id say not necessary. Again not sure the banks here would let you open an account without being a resident.
