Hi friends. I came across this forum last week and it has indeed given me a ray of hope, so thank you to all. I have submitted my profile last week only with the score of 449. I want to get the ITA as soon as possible. I want to know whether I will be able to do so? Secondly, how much time does it take after ITA, to get the final visa? Thirdly, I really like Vancouver and wanna migrate there. How is the city and employment opportunities there? Any information would be really helpful. Thank you all once again.
Hi and welcome,

449 is an amazing score. You should expect an ITA this week. After that you have 90 days to submit your application, the sooner you submit the sooner your application processing will begin. Post-AOR(CIC receiving your PR application) there are a number of factors that determine how long it will take for you to get the visa, particularly the complexity of your application and the Visa Office that will process it. Of late, a realistic expectation is 3-4 months after AOR, could be less or more, but only a few go beyond 6 months..

All the best

Absolutely. I read a lot of horror stories about the job market before coming here so I wasn't sure what will come out of it. Also, there were always people who wanted to prove themselves through putting others down on the forum, about CRS points etc. I learned how to deal with that and some of the challenges that followed us on the way and now I feel like we're the living proof that attitude is really the key. I mean, we are just ordinary people on the extraordinary journey! There is no need for fear, just relax and enjoy the trip. Yes there will be challenges but then again, life is a challenge by itself. Bottom point is, don't give up. Cheers!
Hi there, great to see you back.

I hope you have settled in well. Thank you very much for the encouragement. Its very refreshing to get such positive vibes, they revive our energy to fight for our Canadian dream.

Thanks again.

Thank you so much. It will take me 2 days to submit work ex letters, medical, police verification and funds. S, I hope to get the visa in next 3-4 months. I want to understand the job situation in Vancouver. I have been working in social media marketing and hope to get a job in a similar profile there. I don't mind doing additional course work for the same. However, are there enough jobs in Vancouver? Do I need to do MBA first, and if I want to pursue MBA, can I apply immediately after receiving my Visa or do I need to land there, work there for a while and then go for higher studies?

Hi All

Just received my WES evaluation and waiting for my spouse’s WES evaluation report. I am primary applicant with CRS 456. I understand the ECA number is similar to WES reference number, Is it ok to submit the application now by providing the details of WES reference number for my wife ?

Or shall we wait to receive the WES evaluation for my spouse and them submit the application ?

Appreciate your help here.

Thank you !

I would suggest, get into the pool, 428 is not a bad score. it is actually a very good score; if you want to improve it further then work on improving your IELTS (if there's a room), check if you have any diploma that can be evaluated as post secondary education (incase you do not have masters) to claim two or more degree / diploma points and if you are married and are accompanying your spouse then the same actions mentioned above apply to him/her as well. These can help you boost your score significantly.

Use the CIC Score calculator tool and see what improvements can be done on your existing position to boost your score.
Thank you. As For me, there's not much room for personal score improvement. I have max points for study (ph.d) and 6 points short of the best IELTS score. For my spouse also, the situation is almost the same.
Only 1 month work exp can jump my points by 25 to 453. So I was worried about it.

Hi,

Submit you profile now without claiming points for your wife's education. Then update the profile once you get the ECA.

Claiming points before receiving an ECA is misrepresentation which could lead to a 5 year ban.

Hi,

Have you included the period in which you were on maternity leave? I ask because being on leave does not mean you are not employed. So you can count that period as part of your overall work experience. In fact, CIC does not even need to know you were on maternity leave.

Alternatively, you just need to find a job and work 1 month lol. It can be any job, even in a different NOC, as long as it is in skill level B,A or 0. Also look at your past jobs, there may be a job you did for a few months which can be considered skilled experience.

All the best
I'm an assistant professor by profession. Mine was an ad hoc position. So maternity leave can't be counted.
Can I ask you the following question: I'm working as a freelance editor for 10 months. Does it count in any way?

I'm sorry I don't know anything about Vancouver.

Oh, ok.

Yes, it counts as long as it falls in NOC level 0, A or B and you were paid for the work.

You will need to submit the following:
  • "if the applicant is self-employed, articles of incorporation or other evidence of business ownership, evidence of self-employment income and documentation from third-party individuals indicating the service provided along with payment details (self-declared main duties or affidavits are not acceptable proof of self-employed work experience)."

Thank you TanakaM, this brings down my CRS to 448 and if I submit it today, will it still be eligible for Nov 29th draw ?

Apologies, I am new to forum and catching up.

Kind Regards

Thanks this gives me a ray of hope.
My editor responsibilities fall under skill type A and yes I'm being paid for it. However, this work exp is different from assistant professor. Can I fill in more than one job types and count their total exp while claiming points in the express entry profile? Please shed some light on this.

What are the chances in the next draw with 446?

We had to decline the ITA from the previous draw and now feeling very anxious since we have lost 5 points for age since last time.
