Missing travel history

Hey guys,

I have applied for citizenship using the new C-6 rule on Oct 11, delivered on Oct 13, AOR on Nov 8 and in process on Nov 23.

I missed a one week trip to Romania during 2013 when i filled out my physical presence calculator. Not sure if i would get a RQ for this. Do you all think its better to fill out an IRCC web form with the corrections? Or do I just wait for the interview and explain it? will filling out the web form cause unnecessary delays?

Fill out the webform. RQ is at the discretion of the officer reviewing your file. It could very well lead to an RQ if you don't inform them of the mistake because it jeopardizes your credibility as a candidate.

Probably a good idea to submit the correction with an explanation.

Apart from that, the effect this has can vary widely depending on a lot of other factors in your case.

Note, for example, if you applied declaring 1101 days present in Canada, and the number of full calendar days you were outside Canada during that trip is seven or more, that will make you NOT eligible for citizenship, and you would need to withdraw (or wait a long while to be denied) and re-apply. (If the presence calculation drops to 1094 or less, IRCC has no discretion, the applicant is definitively NOT eligible to be granted citizenship.)

If in contrast you applied with a substantial margin of days present above 1100 days, and there are no other issues or reasons for concern about your application, the odds are still good you will sail through the routine process without bumps or delays, without RQ or RQ-lite.

In-between those two scenarios, there are scores and scores of possible variations.

IRCC web form is the way to go you think?

I missed a trip of three weeks and was totally unaware of my mistake until my interview. I had enough buffer days so the lady at the interview just signed it off. She asked me whether I remembered where I was and I guessed it. She was totally fine with it. If you have enough buffer no issue, if not...big issue.

While I would agree that not having enough buffer definitely makes it an issue, please note that even if you have a buffer it depends on the leniency of the person interviewing you. Some might just sign it off, some might not.

So I would say it can't hurt to correct it, but if your interview is in, say, a week, then of course it makes more sense to hope for leniency as in Stef's case.

I had the impression the agent knows we are just humans. I had an extensive travel history and she asked me how I had compiled my list. I told her, by going through my husband’s and my diary and by checking with our main airline. Most people who apply are not part of this forum and are not aware that you can order travel history from the border. I did it to the best of my abilities and I believe the agent saw that. Again, I had so many buffer days that it was no issue at all.

Yeah I would also say based on your first-hand experience that it is quite likely that with a good buffer, applicants are fine.
What I meant earlier is: If someone submitted their application rather recently, it can't hurt to submit a correction via webform anyways. Just to be double-safe.

I think I will update them via webform. But do i need to send them an updated physical presence calculator? Or will just a message do fine?

An updated physical presence calculator needs me to print it out and sign it too.

i have 1382 days and now with the correction i would have 1378.5 days.
