Hi,

So I have recently got ITA under FSW category. I am currently working in Canada on PGWP and hence didnt claim a valid job offer in Canada (that would've required LMIA right?). I have two years prior work experience in India. But this is where it gets confusing for me. I was employed as "Business and Systems Integration Analyst" at a career level 11 or "Software Engineer". But I worked with Threat and Vulnerability Management group (ethical hacking/cyber security work) and my work most closely resembles that of "NOC 2171 Systems security analysts" as per the cic's description of the NOC 2171 jobs below:
  • Information systems business analysts and consultants confer with clients to identify and document requirements, conduct business and technical studies, design, develop, integrate and implement information systems business solutions, and provide advice on information systems strategy, policy, management, security and service delivery.

  • Systems security analysts confer with clients to identify and document requirements, assess physical and technical security risks to data, software and hardware, and develop policies, procedures and contingency plans to minimize the effects of security breaches.

  • Information systems quality assurance analysts develop and implement policies and procedures throughout the software development life cycle to maximize the efficiency, effectiveness and overall quality of software products and information systems.

  • Systems auditors conduct independent third-party reviews to assess quality assurance practices, software products and information systems.

My Job experience letter would contain following duties:
    • Work with clients to identify and document requirements
    • Assess security risks to web applications including physical threats ( identity verification and access to data centers) and cyber threats to data (Personally identifiable information, login details, credit/debit card details)
    • Develop road-map for cyber threat avoidance, detection and threat containment post security breach/incident.
    • Conduct code reviews, vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify issues with web applications and consolidate report categorizing the vulnerabilities/threats discovered.

    1. My question is that my job title on EE profile is "Business and Systems Integration Analyst" which sound very similar to "Information systems business analysts" but my job duties exactly match that of "System security analysts". I am really scared that the officer would reject me if this doesn't makes sense to him. Any advice on this? What can I do to address this ?

    2. Also, I am confused by the description of the duties on the cic website, there are very few points per role. Can a job description span multiple roles within same NOC?

Finally, can you please comment if you find the points I have included indeed cover all duties expected of a "Systems security analysts" mentioned above?

    Thanks!

You need to mention work in personal history anyhow, but evidence is not required.
Thanks!

1. So I can move my wife's outside Canada work experiecne, which I get no points for from work history section (where it was entered in EE profile) to Personal History in post ITA form? Do I need to explain this change in LOE? If I decide to keep her work experience, do I really need to get a detailed letter of job reference or any job experience letter would do?

2. Can you please check my earlier question on this page about the NOC and my job experience letter?

Friday night i observed after medical clearance, my BG to changed from NA to NBG and then i logged in after couple of hours it changed to "Your application is in progress. We will send you a message when we start your background check."

which stage is this, as in the note below, i did not find this detail post March 7th. Below it is stated to have only three stages, i.e. NA, NBG and IP.

thank you.

Hi Guys,

Starting thread for those who have AOR in November 2017 - please join for discussion and knowledge sharing.

Below I will post some information which you may find useful going forward.

Some FAQ:

Q: How to find my visa office?

A: Send E-mail to: CPC-CTD-Ottawa@cic.gc.ca
Subject: E000xxxx - Visa Office
Body of the mail:
Hello,

I am trying to find out in which Visa office my application is being processed?

Application number: E000xxxx
Date of Birth: 19xx-xx-xx
Last Name: xxx
First Name: xxxx
UCI: -
Category of Immigration: Federal Skilled Worker

Q: Can you explain background status changes (by other forum member, not my):

A: Background statuses explained:

There are two different things. Application status remains in process until we complete stamping.

Regarding BG status - It will go through different stages and let me try to make it clear to you to avoid any further confusion.

Prior to March 7, CIC used to maintain the below BG status.

  1. Not needed at this time (NN)
  2. Not Started (NS)
  3. In Progress (IP)
After March 7, they paraphase the above status as follows.

  1. Not Applicable (NA) ( Old Status :: NN)
  2. Next to step to conduct BG Check (NBG) (Old Status : NS)
  3. In Progress (IP)
People in the threads are using the above status interchangeably. So, don’t get confused.

Now as far as BG process is concerned, it will go through the below trends. I’m using new status words for your reference.

Trend 1: NA -> IP -> NA -> IP
Trend 2: NA -> NBG-> NA-> IP

Some people who are submitting RCMP along with eAPR follows Trend 2 and rest Trend 1. I may not be 100% accurate. But this is what I noticed for CEC Inlanders.
Once the applicant at IP(2), he can expect PPR anytime soon.

Regarding at what stage BG will change??

STAGE 1:: After we submit our application, the BG status would be NA and it will be there until we see a change in Medical status (Passed).

STAGE 2:: After medical update is done, then agent at CIO will change our BG to IP or NBG. Then, he will start R10 check, Criminal checks.

STAGE 3:: After the above checks are done, then he will change BG to NA and our file moved to next stage for Eligibility assessment (A11.2) . Once he/she feels that we are meeting the Eligibility then he/she will provide his/her recommendation to Visa Officer and initiate the Security Clearance. At this point only our file will be moved from CIO to CPC.

STAGE 4:: Officer at Local Visa Office (LVO) will review the recommendation, Security clearance reports. Once he/she satisfies then he/she will approve the recommendation. Then our BG will be changed to IP again. This is where PPR(Passport Request) mails triggered to applicants.

I will post more as we progress.

Thanks!

Good Luck!
