I have been away for quite some and bumping back into the group and seeing the frustration here and I was forced to write to the immigration minister with tears in my eyes. Here is a copy of the email:
Dear sir,
Attn: Minister Of Immigration.

I am writing in respect of the application to sponsor my dear husband under the family class/spousal sponsorship immigration program. My application was received on the 25th of January 2017 at CPC Mississauga. File was approved and transferred on the 16th of March 2017 to the respective visa office closest to my husband's location in these case, Accra visa office. It has been graveyard silence ever since then. I sent enquiries every now and then plus requesting my husband's Notes on July 5th and received same on August 3rd and still nothing started at Accra apart from medical passed. That situation has lingered on up until this moment with totally no new update at our online account.

With respect to these findings, I'm forced to question myself if at all I'm ever going to be with my husband here in Canada with the snail pace at Accra visa office? Looking at online forums where Applicants being attended to at other visa offices around the world breaks my heart's completely. While Accra is still battling with application filed in September 2016, places like New Dehli visa office is working on March 2017 applicants and Manila visa office are already treating April 2017 applications and that is just a few. With these developments, I ask myself yet again. Is this a deliberate action by those in authority to undermine and slow down applications at Accra visa for whatever reasons best known to them?

Nevertheless, I beg earnestly for you to use your good conscience and office to facilitate a much needed change at Accra visa office. Where the workload need to be shed to other visa offices with less load, same need to be done. The stress and strain on spouses is so enormous. Irrespective of religious or social inclination, it is a well known precept that married couples should not stay apart for far too long a time and I believe that is why family or spousal sponsorship is given a priority by the Canadian government.

Of particular note is that, on the 26th of November 2017 will clock exactly one year of tying the knot with my heartrobe. I still believe in miracle, if only you, Accra and the government of Canada can make it happen. No other gift apart from the gift of life will ever be compared with celebrating my ONE year wedding anniversary in person with my husband.
My husband's medical will be expiring on the 5th of December 2017, another appeal for prompt attention before it expires to save us the stress and cost of doing another one.
Me, my family and every other family held up at Accra visa office look forward to an accelerated process as we earnestly seek your reasurrance either in actions or words. Hoping this message reaches you in good faith.

Kind regards

Wait is there a different in police clearance and FBI clearance?
Coz we did police clearance when we submitted the application
Different countrries call theirs different things and have slightly different instructions. If you’ve ever lived in the US for a significant amount of time the you need FBI clearance. My hubby has never lived in the US. So the only report they are asking us for is the Police clearance from his current country of residence (which is what that country calls their federal report)

I followed same guidelines of one of our members I can' remember so thank you for your structure provided which I used some in my email.. I have excluded personal details but it had app details of sponsor and applicant and timeline.

Attn Minister of Immigration:

My husband and I submitted application for spousal sponsorship which was received by CIC on April 27, 2017.

At this current moment, we are at 7 months into the process, and we wanted to make inquiry as we were advised the processing time is 12 months when we applied. We have recently been corresponding with other applicants in similar positions with us through online forums and have noted the following:

1. Accra visa office is only currently finalizing applications submitted in October of 2016.

2. Many applicants from other visa offices who applied at same time as us have already landed in Canada. Applicants under express entry skilled workers applied less then 6 months obtaining PR same visa office processing the file in accra

Based on the first point named above, we have concern that our application, as well as others at our visa office, is not on track to be finished within the timeline provided, which makes it very difficult for us to make plans and is adding undue stress in our marriage and family.

This journey has not been easy at all and not able to speak to a person in Accra Visa office with correspondence to emails has been frustrating.

WE are human, newly married and under the circumstances I would hope that my very own Canadian embassy would have some compassion towards our family.

At the moment, we are at 7 months into the process, passed our medical 5 months ago, yet have not seen any further progress on the file. Could you look into when our background review will start please? At the rate the Accra Visa Office is moving, I find it hard that you can keep your promise of spousal unification in 12 months.

I am aware Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducts background checks by working together with partner agencies, such as the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the Canadian Security Intelligence Service, the Canada Border Services Agency, medical authorities, and agencies of foreign governments.

Background screening processes are non-discriminatory and universal in their application. Any delays or requirements that the Department’s partner agencies may need in providing input are something over which IRCC has no control. with that said EXPRESS ENTRY PR applications is less then 6 months do those applicants not follow the same guidelines?

I understand you have a busy schedule and working towards improvement but I am feeling helpless. There has not been much improvement since your last trip to Ghana in the summer in regards to the slow process.

I am only asking for a CHANGE with Accra office. Llimited staff to mitigate the work load is also causing backlogs.

We need your help and support during this difficult time. I look forward to hearing from your office and I hope the response will be from a person not an automated system.

Thank you,
This mail says it all... like it is so good, hope it is okay to copy? lol

I'm wondering if the "not applicable" means that the Police Clearance they have has expired and is thus no longer applicable. Mine says the same. I'll see if it toggles to "in progress" after we submit the clearance.
Am suspecting that's the case however on the online application tool it says decision made on my husband's file, is it possible to do background check while their decision has been made,it's quite confusing am just gonna relax n wait for them to emai

I'm happy to see the momentum on contacting those in power. Let's try to unify our voice by using a consistent subject line in all email correspondence. I was thinking (in capital letters)

ACCRA VISA OFFICE NEEDS HELP (Application #F____________).

This way, they (Minister of Immigration, PM, etc) will see that there are many people with the same concern AND they are from different/unique applicants. I think this will help us stand together, like some where suggesting here in the last week.
