Bringing significant other to Canada

Hey everybody, I want to bring my girlfriend, who is from South America, back home for Christmas and New Year's Eve.

What is the best way to show proof of relationship if we are not legally bound in the form of a lease, bank account, etc.?

Does anybody have experience with this? How long does it take? Is there an interview after submitting the visa application online?

If she is just your gf then there is no relationship to prove. You can send her an invitation letter stating the relationship but that is about it.

There is nothing special about the TRV application, so normal processing times apply.

On the application, though, it lists Proof of Relationship as something required:

You must provide proof of your relationship with your host or family member. This can include:

• a marriage certificate
• Statutory Declaration of Common-Law Union (IMM5409)
• a birth certificate
• an official document naming you as a parent
• a copy of the inside back cover of the inviter's passport showing the inviter's parents, if applicable

Then restart and answer the question you don’t have family in Canada

Seems you are not answering the wizard correctly. It shouldn't ask you for that.
