Hello!

I'm trying to find information about how to update my husband's job, I tried to call them, but it says that they're experiencing a high number of calls and couldn't answer me, so maybe someone here can help me.

My application was accepted on April 2017 and at that time, my husband was not working, but we applied anyway. On May, they requested my background check and that was the last time I had any news.

Now my husband is working and I'd like to know if there is any way we could add this information to our application.

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi, has your husband already been approved as a sponsor? If so, they have already declared him eligible to sponsor you and there is no need to update them about his new job.

If he has not yet been approved as a sponsor, then you can submit a case specific inquiry on the IRCC webform and let them know about his new job and provide an employment letter. But if you have already received SA, this is 100% unnecessary. :)

Thanks for the reply!

Well, I didn't even know he needed to be approved as a sponsor, so I'm guessing the answer is no. They send a message about this? Because the last message I got was about the BGC. I called CIC today and the machine said that the review of my eligibility has not started yet.
I'm worried about the possibility of our application to be denied because he wasn't working.

I read somewhere here in the forum that the IRCC webform takes tons of time to reply/update information, is it the only way?

Thanks again!

Well, there are two ways to submit new information, and unfortunately over the phone isn't one of them (at least, not reliably...). You can either mail in the information physically, or submit it via the web form. Both aren't exactly the speediest of methods...

Did you apply inland or outland? Typically, at least for outland, sponsor approval comes very quickly after AOR. Your sponsor should have received an email with a UCI number as part of AOR. You can use ECAS to check on the status of the sponsor approval using the sponsor's UCI number/date of birth.

The sponsor approval message does go to the sponsor, not the PA.

Inland, I'm in Canada since January.
And YES! I found the email, they sent it 1 month after my application was received, I checked ECAS and it shows the status "In Process", so does that means that I don't need to update?

Just to be super clear so I can answer you correctly - you found the AOR email, or the sponsor approval email? And the ECAS “in process” is for the sponsor, or “in process” for you (the PA)?

Ok, the email I found says:

"This confirms that your application to Sponsor a Member of the Family Class has been received by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) on 2017/04/05 on behalf of the following member(s): My name"

Then the ECAS:
"application received" for the PA, last message about the BGC

"in process" for the sponsor, last message "We started processing your application on May 1, 2017."

Got it! Thank you! If you had received sponsor approval already, ECAS would say “decision made” for the sponsor - so you should go ahead and submit the updated information via the web form :)
