Facts, and speculations, on post C-6 processing times

Statistically a small sample can be an "indication" of what is happening at a population level. Obviously with all kind of disclaimers...looking at the google tracker sheet on this website, there were around 70-80 people entering their information on google sheet every month.

After Oct 11 alone, the number in last 10 days is 250 and it is only 10 days yet. Volume will go down as month pass as eager applications who were waiting are in already.

Overall, we are looking at pre-C6 70/month VS post-C6 500+ in October alone.....on this website google tracker. Thats a Trumpian yugggeeee 6+ times bump. Obviously IRCC is going be a delay hub for the next year, or even more.

Again, this thread is speculation friendly so don't be emotional here :)

If one intends on residing in Canada post-citizenship, then it really doesn't matter much as long as processing times are within reason (12 months I'd say). I do understand everyone wants their applications to be processed in record time, and be done with it. Well, so do I. But in the grand scheme of things, if one truly plans on making Canada their home, and are not just in it for the passport to US and/or other countries, then a few months delay really doesn't matter.

As you noted, we already saw a significant spike in the number of applicants this month, and statistically speaking, it should taper off / saturate in the coming months. If I were to speculate, the number of applications per month even after saturation will be significantly larger than under the C-24 law. The 5x increase in the processing fee is a factor for large families, however not as significant as it made out to be.

All we can do now, is hope we get AOR and then the ball is in IRCC's court.

“Doesn’t matter how long if canada is your home” are not reason to have ones application hindered just because the number of applicants swelled.

Its like saying having a speeding ticket in Ottawa are okay because you live in Montréal.

Well, you do not have to prove it statistically. Logically, the number of applicants will increase at least 2 times more. One because of Pre-pr rule and secondly due to the 3/5 rule. How efficient the cic will handle this increase will be known basically from the speed of AOR. Maybe some questions in the form will greatly decrease the process time of each applicant. At the end, only time will tell us but surely at least 2-3 months of delay compared to pre c6.

I said as long as it's reasonable (within 12 months), it doesn't matter. It doesn't help if you take bits and pieces of my post and try to find meaning like Trump. And I don't get your speeding ticket analogy.

Application processing times are definitely going to increase. IRCC hasn't responded to questions on how they'll handle the increased application load, which can only lead one to believe that they won't hire more staff especially given it's all unionized.

When I had my interview in Vancouver, I did ask and was told, no they will not hire more people and yes it will take much longer, not only because of new applications but also because the staff needs to adjust to the new requirements which will bring with it some confusion.

Just curious, who did you ask? I am surprised a single person would have knowledge on staffing and departmental procedures. The new requirements is mostly about edibility ( like before )

Well that sucks, but not unexpected.

I asked somebody who worked there. Not sure what her role is, but frankly why would one doubt this? I did not expect them to go out and hire new staff just to accommodate the new rules. If you look in the past, the waiting times were much longer than in the last couple of months. Why should they employ more people? I don't believe they care the slightest about how long it takes or not. For people who want to stay here forever, it does not really matter. For those with no intent to stay it might get tricky as they have to fulfill the requirements of their permanent residency while their application is in process. I a not sure whether those permanent residency requirements have changed as well though.

Yeah also they mention clearly on they website: (Processing times tell you how long it took Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to process applications in the past after receiving a complete application package. Processing times can vary, depending on how many applications IRCC receives. ) So guys get ready for long delay.

Well, normally it is very true, but considering the liberal has been in so many messy situations these days and desperately needs more votes , I won’t be surprised if they do increase staffing and make other changes to push the process go faster

The crux of the matter is that it does not matter how long it takes if your intent is to stay in Canada. However if some one is applying for citizenship just to get passport and relocate to some other country then it may be a very painful wait. IRCC requirement of intent to stay in Canada in C24 was then justified. Canada needs skilled worker to stay and deliver to improve the ecomony and not just for citizenship.
Sorry to put the truth clearly. Best of luck

Isn’t This thread supposed be about facts and speculations ? Why there are always some self-righteous people hijacking it to make it about their judgments about others that they know nothing about, but feel perfectly comfortable making all kinds of assumptions ?

Does it matter how long it takes if you want to pursue certain career path that requires citizenship?
Does it matter how long it takes if you want to participate in the election so you can do your part and vote out the bad guys and vote for the ones that represent you better ?
What makes you think what you said is the truth? That’s just ridiculous

Not to mention that I believe processing times over 6 months are excessive for what is just "an administrative procedure": at application you have most likely satisfied all the conditions to become a citizen, so at the very extreme, every day of delay is too long.
