Hello everyone, I have been using this forum to check information for years although I have never commented. I liked how comprehensive the information here is thanks to everyone's contribution.

I sent in my citizenship application in July, and CIC started processing my case on Aug 22. Until now the status has been "in process". Is this normal or a bit slow? I am in Montreal.

I also noted my address is wrong although I corrected it three times with online form, in July, August and Oct. It is still showing the wrong address. I called CIC one time about the incorrect address and the agent told me she was seeing the correct mailing address and the online platform may not be updated timely. However, that was last month and it is still the incorrect address. I just don't want the one who processes my case to think I don't physically live here. I already travel a lot due to my work. I am an auditor so 50% of the time I am on the road. I moved to Canada 5 years ago. Any folks in similar situation as me? Or any insights?

Have you tried correcting it directly on ECAS by clicking "update this address"? 1 month is a bit long.

Yes, "in process" is normal. Only 15% of July applicants got test invites to date. You are in the "normal" timelines along with the other 85%...

same here , i guess it 'slowed down' compared to previous months . But if you try calling them , they will tell you that it takes 12 months to process it .
In process since august , all we can do is wait and it can come at any time.

Hey,

I had similar issue with the address. I called/emailed and changed the address directly on e-CAS but it still displays incorrect address. I got an email reply from the CIC saying they have my correct address on the file and in their system and not to worry about the address displayed on e-CAS. I guess as long as they have correct address on file and in their system it should be OK.

Regarding the delay, it looks that we are a majority, waiting for the process to be moved forward to test/interview etc. We'll get there, eventually ;)
Good luck to all of us!

Thank you all for the responses. I tried two different ways to correct my address on CIC. I guess similar to bhanump's experience, CIC is not updating their online info. I have not been able to speak to an agent recently every time I call. Possibly due to the large amount of inquiries following bill C6.. Fingers crossed and good luck to us all :)

Speaking to a CIC agent is mission impossible. I've tried to reach them so many times with zero luck. I received an email with my notice for the citizenship test but never received anything in the mail. In ECAs it says I should be receiving a letter in the mail. My test is tomorrow and I am just going to show up with the email notice and hope for the best. I am not sure this would be enough but if I haven't received anything in the mail and cannot get in touch with anyone, I don't know what else I am supposed to do.

Sorry folks for being out of the loop for a while. I've had a very busy time. I applied through the urgent processing route and here is my timeline:

  1. AOR July 6, 2017.
  2. Processing started July 10, 2017.
  3. Test letter dated August 24, 2017, and the test on September 14, 2017
Since the test date my status hasn't changed and is still In Process. Is it normal?

Please update the excel sheet.

I had clear evidence from my employer which I submitted along with my application. If you have clear written evidence, IRCC undoubtedly does consider your application for urgent processing. Here is what the IRCC website says:

To apply for urgent processing, you must be eligible to apply for citizenship and have an emergency, such as:

  • needing Canadian citizenship to:

    • apply for a job
    • avoid losing your job
    • go to a Canadian school, college or university
  • needing to travel because of death or serious illness in your family and you can’t get a passport in your current nationality
  • receiving a successful Federal Court decision on an appeal on a previous application for citizenship

Even if these conditions apply to you, we may not be able to process your request urgently. If we do process your request urgently, we may not be able to do it in time to help your situation. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/become-urgent.asp

May I ask what documents you sent in order to support your Urgent Processing Request? A letter from your company?

I think you should be OK with the emailed notice. We have many people here who managed to pass with an e-mailed notice only. Besides, they also report that in many cases staff do not even look at the notice - they will have your name on the list. So you should be OK if you just print whatever they e-mailed you.
Good luck! I wish you what I wish for myself - to get a reasonable officer for interview who will not ask things like translation of passport stamps from 1990s. The actual test scares me much less.

One Quick check about police clearance certificate.

183 or more days spend in last 4 years immediately before the date of application.

I signed my application on 05 Sept 2017 . I was outside of canada in 2013 for more than 183 days . Do i have to provide PCC?

I got my AOR already. I am not sure on this requirement ...can anyone help me on understanding it ?

Thanks

If time spent fall in 4 years, then yes. But if not then no. Calculate days spent outside from date of your signing application and back track 4years. Time shouldn't count that is beyond those 4 years.

Thanks for reply. I came back to Canada in aug 2013 and as I signed my application on sept 05,2017. So if I count 4 year back than sept 05,2013 . Since sept 2013 I was never outside of Canada for more than 183 days. Do i still need to provide pcc?
