Hi everyone, I am sponsoring my wife for her PR to Canada.

As we're going through the list of documents to obtain and supply, I found that it is also required to supply CIC an extract of a driving record if you live or have lived in Australia. Unfortunately, that is us...

How can we obtain this? We're currently living in Japan and I could not find any information on QLD transport's website...

I appreciate your responses. Thank you.

Hi schreck, I had the same problem with getting a driving history in Western Australia. I rang the department of transport and they only supplied demerit point history. Apparently the police department in WA have taken this task over. I don't know what the procedure is in Queensland but it might be worth calling them about it. I couldn't see anything on their website about it either.

Hello... I also need a driving history report - for Victoria (I lived in Australia for a year). I went onto the Vicroads website and they have an online request form you can complete...the only issue is you need an Australian driving licence to complete the form. I don't have one so I emailed VicRoads explaining my situation. This is the response I received:
______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Thank you for your email about obtaining a traffic history printout from VicRoads for your overseas visa application.

As you have advised that you never held a driver licence while you lived in Victoria, in order to enable VicRoads to confirm the correct procedure to assist your application for a Victorian traffic history report, you will need to contact our Call Centre on +61 3 9854 7763 from the UK (8.30am - 5.00pm Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 2.00pm Saturday) to discuss your enquiry further with a VicRoads consultant.

At the time of the call, the VicRoads consultant will need to confirm the timeframe you were residing in Victoria and your full identification, including your details as follows:
- full name
- date of birth
- address (both residential and postal)

Determined on the details that you require for your visa application, there may be a fee applicable for VicRoads to provide this confirmation to you in writing. The minimum fee (if applicable) is $8.10. Please ensure that you have access to a Visa or MasterCard should this payment be required (and your application able to be completed over the telephone) to enable the VicRoads consultant to assist you in a timely manner.

Alternatively, your request may need to be lodged in writing to our Correspondence department. This will be confirmed by the VicRoads consultant once your full identification has been confirmed over the telephone.

I hope that this information has adequately addressed your enquiry and that your application goes well. Please do not reply to this mailbox as it is unattended, however if you require further assistance with your enquiry you may respond using the VicRoads Website feedback form quoting reference number: 282047

Kind regards

Cathy

Not sure if Queensland follow the same process, but it's worth emailing/calling to check.

Good luck

PS. I read somewhere else on the forum it can take up to 2 months... lets hope that isn't the case ;)

PS. Just found this

The Licensing section at the Department of Transport and Main Roads (in Brisbane) has confirmed that persons overseas may obtain a copy of their Queensland Traffic History by submitting their application (Driver Record Information form) by post and that certified copies of original documents (where requested) should be included with the application. Please refer to the Queensland Government Depart of Transport and Main Roads website....under licensing - Licence demerit points....to give more info on the Driver Record Information Application form and fee information. (The fee must be in Australian dollars so when purchasing a bank draft at the overseas bank check that it is issued in Australian $.) The completed Driver Record application form, requested documentation and fee should be mailed to: Department of Transport and Main Roads, GPO box 2451, Brisbane Queensland 4001

;)

MDSB, Hi! Did you get that document already? Where did you find "Driver Record Information form"?
I spent 3 months in Queensland and never drove there. Now embassy requires Police clearance with Traffic History Report :( I hope it doesn't take 2 months to get it :(

Hi Tatiana

Yes, I received it. It only took a couple of weeks to arrive! :D In the end, I called them up and they asked to put put some details in writing, this is a copy of my letter:

RE: TRAFFIC HISTORY PRINTOUT/DRIVING HISTORY REPORT FOR OVERSEAS VISA

Hope you can help. I am a UK citizen and currently live in the UK. I am applying for an overseas visa and the form states I need to produce a driving history report for time spent in Melbourne on a working holiday. The only problem is I do not have an Australian driver’s license and therefore cannot use the online service.

I have just spoken to a consultant in the Licensing Dept. at VicRoads and they advised me that they couldn’t provide me with a report because I don’t hold an Australian license and told me to mail in my details to you instead to obtain written confirmation that a report cannot be produced (due to the fact that I never held an Australian driver’s license).

They asked me to provide the following details:

Timeframe living in Australia: XXXX
Full Name: XXXX
Date of birth: XXXX
Current residential/postal address: XXXX
Home phone number: XXXX
Email address: XXXX

Please contact on the above phone number or email address, should you require further information.
Thanks and regards

Please note, they couldn't provide me with a Driving History report because I don't have an aussie licence, but they sent me a confirmation letter explaining the report cannot be provided because I don't have a licence. They also confirmed that they did a check and I def don't have a licence. Not sure what the procedure is for Queensland but I can't imagine it would be much different. Def worth calling them!

Good luck

MDSB :)

PS the police clearance is also pretty quick... only took a few weeks for that also - although mine has been lost on the post and is being re-issued - worth keeping track once you submit the application!
I emailed them and they were happy to provide a progress update! :)

I am not involved in this issue, but I am curious: this is the first time that I have read that a driving record is necessary. What is the purpose?

And, is Australia the only country for which a driving record is required?

1. DUIs are shown in the traffic record, only country that is required.
