Just wanna share I passed my paper based application last August 2 through VFS. Linked it online just last October 2. October 3 I was advised that it was already approved. Then I picked up my passport in VFS Makati this afternoon. Thank you for the helpful tips and all. God is always good
Question btw, did they just give you the student visa? No more tourist visa sticker? Sorry just got confused there. Thanks again.

Congrats.
They will stamp a student visa on your passport and give you student permit in the port-of-entry.

To enter you need a student visa (a kind of visa) to stay in Canada you need a student permit. They only give student permit at the port of entry so to reach the port of entry (board the place) they give you a student visa.
TRV (a.k.a. a visitors visa) is a visa for a visitor and Work Visa is a visa for worker (later work permit).

If your lawyer is a licensed immigration lawyer then you are in good hands. But I still know a lawyer who fucked up an application because the client is an OFW and not in Philippines.
Is an immigration lawyer really needed? I'm planning to lodge my application next week too pero wala akong lawyer. Is this bad? Partner kasi ng school ko here yung school ko there so di na kami nag think ng others pa. Lol. Please give me your insight on this!

Nope not mandatory. Pero siya raw may lawyer so inassure ko siya na siguro nasa magandang kamay ang application niya.
If the school in Canada has an RCIC and has been a partner with your school for a long time, meaning marami ng pinoy na napapaalis, then you are probably in a good hands too so do not worry that much.
