Hello everyone,

I have received my stamped passport on the 19th of September 2017 and we plan to land early March 2018. My problem is that my passport expires mid November next year:

- Should I renew my passport now which will lead to my old passport, containing the PR visa(validity until May end 2018), being cancelled and a new passport being issued (with a new passport number)?
- Or, can I travel with my old passport and renew it in Canada if there any ways to renew my passport there after I make a landing?

What are my best options?

Thanks in advance for all your input!

Dear All,

I am a PR Card holder for the province of Manitoba. I have landed in March 02, 2019 in Winnipeg, Manitoba and received PR card within 21 days and later on left Canada for my home country due to some other reason. Since then I have been living in my home country. However, I am planning to settle there in the February, 2022 and will meet my PR obligations. However, my passport validity period will expire on 03, April , 2022. Do I need to renew my passport in order to travel to Canada as well as to pass through the immigration back here in my home country. If I need to renew my passport, should I need to inform the CIC immediately and do I must the passport where there was stamp of PR visa. Any advice is highly appreciated .

Thanks and Regards.
