It's still changing by the way, last time I checked it was even higher than when I checked a while after submitting. People preparing for ITA soon should definitely keep that in mind. Better submit with a much larger number than the actual stated amount

It is indeed safer. You don't want to miss out by 50 or 100CAD.

I actually genuinely don't understand why no one is getting my point. I've been on this forum for a few months. I see a lot of people with bad/average English levels complaining about IELTS just making them fail to make more money (ridiculous, we both passed from the first attempt) then get mad at CIC for not lowering the cutoff score. And then when do get ITA and PR, they move to Canada complain that they can't get proper jobs and that they are being discriminated against. My only suggestion is that improving your English levels will help your IELTS scores, CRS score as well as future opportunities when you move to an English speaking country. In the end, to each their own. Best of luck to everyone.

And opinions differ - we can't force anyone to convert to our way of thinking.

Also, it's pointless to make assumptions that everyone here is just moaning about IELTS been rigged while twiddling their thumbs.

Believe me, there are enough hard working aspirants here who are trying their best to improve their score if they haven't already maxed out IELTS and education points. Others (mostly mature applicants who've lost points because of age) are applying to universities in Canada to gain Canadian education and hopefully work experience in the not so distant future.

The point of this rather long post is, we don't know everybody's story - we can only assume we know things by reading a few posts here.

When the november changes took place the score shooted up to 497 and no one believed that scores will fall below 450.

And going with the changes the main factor in scores to drop is high number of ITAs from 1500 to 3800. And scores not going down now is because of the same reason.

As I said earlier back to back draws are key to get scores down they did 3 draws in space of 14 days in april 2017 in which score came down from 441 to 415.

And mind you when they started high ITA draws the score started falling from 497 as minister already said that the quota of 2018 will not get decreased from 2017 it will rather increase or remain the same.

So as they did in 2017 at some point in nov-dec or starting 2018 they have to start doing 3500-3800 draws and some back to back draws again to fill up their quota and now score stuck at the range of 430s to 440s is good because if scores fall from 430s to 440s with more ITAs score can fall to 400s range.

Rather then it starts falling from 450s or 460s

The draws over 3500 may have only been to make up for the slowness earlier in the year from finishing the paper applications. Now that they are all finished, I believe that the size of the draw will be more consistent. We have already seen that around 2700 is what CIC believes will finish the current quota. In 2018, or whenever they start drawing with 2018 in mind, I think there will be an adjustment, but after that it will stay steady again.

I can't generalize to include everyone, it's impossible to do so in such a wide forum anyways. I'm sure you can point out the average person I'm describing. Sadly I read way too many post about IELTS being rigged and that it's a moneymaking machine that I stopped responding. Better say nothing than be mean after all. I guess my irritation comes from those blaming the system rather. For example people with CLB7 score and bordering cutoff can easily get an additional 25 points and securing ITA if they hit CLB 9.

On a side note, in your case for example have you looked into different type of streams? Like business immigration or nomination to a northern state?

Of course, increasing our score should be our biggest priority but you've to remember that many of us have maxed out IELTS and education points and have scored low only because of our age.

Like people struggle to increase their english scores, the hope for us older people comes from french scores.

We older folks have to accept the fact that Canada already has an aging population, and they want younger folks to balance it out. There's a difference between being highly qualified and being a desirable immigrant. So those of us who are really serious must go the extra mile and learn french or get a canadian degree.

Agreed. It's a long term investment in immigrants after all. I'm in my 30s so points will go down for me every year as well. On the opposite side, both my husband and I didn't get our French evaluated (which we also speak with native fluency) so if things don't work out now, we'll get the french evaluated to balance our lost points.

When I realised that it was impossible for me to invent a time machine so that I could get younger or learn French quickly before I get another year older, I applied to Ontario and got a nomination. I submitted my PR application last month as a PNP Outland. Now waiting patiently for PPR

That's great! From the settling in canada forum I noticed a lot of northern states have lots of job opportunities. It could also be a different route to take for people in the 25-45 age bracket. French is indeed harder to learn especially noting that our French is a bit different than French Canadian. Gotta explore all the options just like you did!

just curious to ask, why would you need to explore other options?! you have a great score and you are at IP2... just relax , enjoy the remaining time in your current residence... and start looking for a ticket.

I always have a backup plan just in case. There's always a possibility of rejection even after PR. Actually even if you land and get citizenship it can still be revoked. Also the other options are not just for me but for everyone who's on the limits of the cutoffs and who still has a chance to get a better score or those who maxed out their score and can look for other streams beside FSW.

I just have a question. Is it possible to go above CLB 10? Some websites seem to indicate a CLB 11 or 12. But I think CLB 10 is the max. Can anyone clarify?
