Same dilemma here, though even if my husband gets a job before we move we'll still want to live in a part of the city where I can get my own job without having an unreasonable commute. Add to that not having rented in years, and even then not in a competitive or expensive market, and we're very intimidated. I'm half-convinced we'll end up in a bug-infested hellhole unless we pay well over 2k/month. I'm hoping a few acquaintances I have in the area can point me to some good but affordable apartments, and we'll likely try using a realtor too.

Our backup plan if city life doesn't agree with us is to head over to the Kitchener-Waterloo area. That and the nearby cities sound a lot more like what we're used to, but they have fewer jobs and we want to try out city life anyway. That said, if my husband networks himself into a job we'll go wherever in Ontario that takes us. Staying in Ontario is pretty much a must for us though.

Application-wise, we have everything uploaded except for our FBI PCCs, which could arrive as early as today. I feel like we're at the top of a roller coaster and about to tip over the edge! When we took the first step of booking our IELTS tests back in January we had no reason to think we'd be at this point any time soon, if at all (our 435 wasn't bad, I mean, but we had absolutely no way in our own power to raise it beyond that). It's very surreal being here, and we're so grateful for this chance!
Hi @moose17, your backup plan is a good one. I've lived in both Toronto and Waterloo and I much prefer Kitchener-Waterloo. I lived there for 13 months and still have friends there in the Tri-City area. Not sure if you are in IT, but IT jobs are still very much in demand there. I'm not a big city type of person so I'm biased, but as your Plan B goes you could do a lot worse.

Unfortunately, you're going to miss your summer in Canada. :p:p

I have lived most of my life in India and believe me, I hate summers. Very idea of summer approaching makes me anxious.:eek:

Even now, first thing I do after I wake up in morning is to peep out of my window and check if it is sunny or cloudy. :D:D
No. Unfortunately for me, and fortunately for those of you who like hot, humid weather, it does get hot and humid in the summer in Toronto, although not as much as in the eastern US.

But it's nice to "meet" another Indian who doesn't like hot weather. Actually Indians also have an advantage in dealing with the cold. The spicy food makes the body warm up. Indian is one of my favorite cuisines, btw.

Hi guys, is there any benefit of providing Letter of Explanation (LOE)? Does it make application process faster or consider as best practice?

My application is pretty straight forward, other than I applied couple of times for Study permit and visa. I believe CIC has all my previous application information in their records. Do I still need to submit a LOE? Is it a good idea of explaining my life events in short inside that letter?

What is Schedule A (IMM5669E)?

Thank you.

You're the jesus of back-patters, I salute you and praise your resurrection.
@iamxty is not only a back patter but a wealth of practical immigration information that she freely shares with all of us when we need it.

No. You only really need an LOE when there is something in your application that needs further clarification, especially when you can't produce all the documents exactly as prescribed. You don't need LOE for a straightforward application.

Let's be realistic and allow me to ask you something. Which continent are you from? You're suggesting immigrants to have six digit figure in their savings account or they're doomed. I'm seriously wondering if this never occurred to CIC officials to raise amount they seem to be mentioning in POF.

Apology for my ignorance as I don't seem to know you better I might have missed your posts earlier but are you pursuing express entry? What is your CRS? Are you outland or inland applicant?

Sorry to be harsh but this is ray of hope thread and not ray of doom and to me, you sound like a racist kid who is not even close to facts.
Was that supposed to be harsh? I simply do not have to answer any questions here. CIC won't raise the bar because Canada needs laborers as well. And there is no rule saying that laborers cannot be skilled and well educated. Ask any Canadian citizen to survive for 12k/year.

I am sorry for

I get the point well, but it does not mean you will all succeed. YOU should get that.
Eh, even if nobody convinces you to be a bit more positive and diplomatic, maybe we'll succeed in getting more draws with you around. The presence of a naysayer or two has often attracted draws in the past ... ;)

So why are we not seeing draws everyday then?

I totally agree, let's keep the chicken little. He's funny, in a sad little way. It must be dark under that cloud that he carries around.

Yes, the Spanish and the Latin Americans tend to be warm people with collectivist cultures. I do want to travel to a few places, including Latin America and Spain, after I become Canadian.

Are you learning French? I am still a slow beginner, mostly using duolingo and some FSI French lessons. I really need to ramp up more seriously We have a small whatsapp group for practicing French, although we haven't been very active lately. (I really need to buckle down for more intensive French study)
https://chat.whatsapp.com/1HQROITB0p51B3kNAsVzAi

Also, if anyone wants to practice Spanish, I started this whatsapp group:
https://chat.whatsapp.com/9MyFzjOMylXJKyP40ZKnxK
(I'm a lot more comfortable conversing in Spanish than French, so I should be more chatty there)

(I know some of you mentioned telegram or discord for more privacy, but I'm not motivated to install more apps at this point - I have too many chat apps as it is ... .. and hopefully we someday can also be offline friends after we move to Canada)
Phewww, lot of posts to catch up.

I'm not learning French as of now but sooner or later, I'll have to start learning.
