Hi all,

Just curious if anyone has, or knows someone who has submitted their outland common law sponsorship visa and didn't have to wait the full 12 months. Is it unheard of to have them process it sooner than a year if they get all the requested documents in a timely manner? I'm applying from New Zealand and preparing to send in the next week or so.

12 months is the global target to complete 80% of cases, and came in in December last year (so, since it's less than 12 months old, impossible to say how it's going so far). Most straightforward cases from developed countries are much quicker than that - many people get done in 3-4 months, depending on their processing office, many others are 7-9 months. There are lots of spreadsheets around the forum, divided by visa office, or by month of application, where you can see real world processing times.

Hey thanks for not making me feel stupid for asking that! I'll have a look around for the spreadsheets, your quick reply is much appreciated :)

See the spreadsheet link in my signature line below for London Visa Office timescales. I don't know which office would process NZ - possibly Sydney?

For London, I would say the majority of the 'bell curve' timescales for straightforward visa exempt applicants would fall between 6 to 12 months (from receipt in Mississauga, to decision made at the visa office).
