Oh well, Its been a crazy day. DHL said they cannot create a prepaid return label for us that it has to be done in Ghana. since we are shipping our documents from Canada to Ghana, its pretty hard to get the prepaid return label. so we mailed out the whole documents and passport that was requested to Ghana today without the prepaid return label.(they only gave us 15 days to get all the requested documents)
Now I need help on how I can get a prepaid return envelope (from Canada).any suggestions please?
Oh wow, the deed has been done already, you should not have sent your passport all the way to Ghana, it's actually illegal, I thought you were in Nigeria.Oh well, Its been a crazy day. No,it's not that hard, there's a process which I have explained.then you would have to go pick it up from ghana.
I am not sure why you can't prepay it from canada to ghana but you can prepay it from ghana... that's awful. well then how will it be returned to you. unless you can get a family member to pick it up with your acknowledgment letter as undertaking if they allow that
A police report for the purpose of a PR application is actually valid for twelve months, however due to the delay from AVO, that is why they have to redo them again.hello members,
For those who are getting asked to redo their police cetificates I have a few questions:
1. Did you do your police certificates more than 6 months before you applied?
2. Also are any of your spouses (Principal applicant) living outside?
3. Also if they haven't and aren't living in Ghana for decades have you still be asked to resubmit even though they haven't returned to Ghana since the last report?
4. Finally, how does one get a Police report from Ghana when one doesn't live there?
I'm just fretting in advance 'cos my husband doesn't live in Ghana and it'll be a real pain if we have to redo the Police report.
the police report is only good for 6 months after thatvits expired you need to complete a new one. also the police report technically for where your residing over 6 months plus so if your partner isn't in ghana can u not complete it which ever country the principal applicant is currently residing?
Wait until you receive email messages from cic AVO that your passport is ready. Print the email messages and go to DHL to pick the passport for you.Oh well, Its been a crazy day. That's actually incorrect @Cutie101, that's why I'm annoyed at AVO. According to their site http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/intro.asp this is what it says below. Therefore, those who haven't lived in Ghana for while, so long as they go the certificate within 6 months of applying, they should not need one from Ghana in both cases - but Ghana especially. I can understand them thinking circumstances may change in one's current country of residence.
"If you need a police certificate from a country or territory and:
- are currently living there, or received the police certificate before leaving, the police certificate must be issued within six months before you apply.
- have lived there in the past, the police certificate must be issued after you last lived in that country or territory"

For your spouse, as long as he has not gone back to Ghana, after the initial police report was done, the police report is still valid
Do not fret, you can add a letter of explanation and merge it with the previous police report if asked, but that's the rule, and you would not get penalized.
Also, remember that you might be asked to fill a new travel history form, so that sorts it out.
Do not fret, all will be well
