Lost student visa outside canada

So basically i applied to renew my student visa when i was still in canada, but by the time the visa arrived i was already gone. I emailed the University asking what should i do since i don't have a study permit to get into canada again, and the told me i should have no trouble going in because i still have the old student visa and the letter that says my new student visa got accepted. However, i email them today again to recheck and they said i might not be able to go in.
I am flying to Canada in 15 days and i don't really know what to do.
Anyone knows something!?

Do you still have VALID study visa (old one) ? you can travel on that and once in Canada you can request them to send you another study permit saying you haven't received or lost in mail. Once you have the new permit you should apply for new TRV.
If you still have that old visa valid you should be able to enter without any problem, also keep that letter handy (which shows you have been approved with new extension).

You are mixing up terms. A visa, TRV, allows you to board a commercial carrier travel to Canada. The study permit gives you status in Canada.

Do you have a valid TRV? If not, you need to apply for one. It is unlikely that you will be able to get one within 15 days.

What i don't have is the paper they give you at the airport when you arrive, i am guessing that is the study permit

That's fine. As long as you have a valid TRV, you can travel to Canada. CBSA should be able to print your new study permit when you enter.

If your old visa is expired, you don't have option to travel with.
