It's been 6 months and 15 days, still no visible decision made on my application. I sent a webform and was informed that security checks are still taking place thus they cannot do anything to speed up this process. My friend has the same case like mine basically carbon copy, ctrl c, ctrl v kind of thing but she got her decision on the 5th month. If they they were able to do that to her what's taking them so long this time?

If they are following strict timeline they should have accomplished everything within or exactly 6 mos. I would understand a few days delay but half month is totally unacceptable. The implication is causing anxiety. Totally unnecessary.
Are you serious? I have been waiting for 21 months now and need to wait for min another 3 months.

Are you living in your native country? I live and work in US and not sure how to answer the question regarding "work plan in home country" since have not been there for last few years and naturally have no plan :)

What would a lawyer do?
Apparently a lawyer can make a complaint about undue delays and request a quick resolution of the application through court order.

An unreasonable delay goes against procedural fairness: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/service/fairness.asp

There is precedent of unreasonable delay being challenged in courts:
http://meurrensonimmigration.com/when-an-administrative-delay-is-an-abuse-of-process/
http://www.maxberger.ca/immigration-cases/unreasonable-delay/

Even CanadaVisa (the firm handling this forum) offers legal help regarding this:
http://www.canadavisa.com/long-delays-canadian-immigration-application.html

So, yes if someone is held up for twenty something months without justification, or their file has been approved on all fronts and is still held up for months, they should probably contact a lawyer and be proactive about changing their situation.

I personally feel that if you don't get PPR within 6 months, its all right; especially when you've been selected for SS. Your file should keep moving though. You should be able to trace this movement. Maybe even up to 9 to 12 months is okay. But beyond that (unless you've been a combatant in wars or something, have a criminal record, or have scandals associated with you), is not okay. So in those circumstances, I think people need to do something instead of just waiting.

Hi .. I just received my GCMS notes and the latest status is as below. By when I can expect the Security to be finished?

Eligibility: Passed
Security:
Criminality: Passed
Medical: Passed

Security screening page is blank with s.15(1) written on top. So I am not able to identify at what stage of Security screening I am at.

Its 8 months and 8 days now officially after AOR. :D

Thank you.

I had the same status as you ,, with security space blank and s15(1) on the top. ( got PR soon after 4 months total)

As far as i know you you have not been selected for SS coz if you would the status would been not started.
I am not an expert its just my opinion.

Today, there has been a change in my status. Under Review of Additional Documents, it now says:
We need more documents to continue processing your application. We will send you a message with more details.

But there is no message or email. I was requested a Schedule A around mid-June. I replied within 24 hours.

Its been 189 days now. I also sent an email requesting an update on my status.

How long does it take to receive a message about additional documents required?

The same status appeared on Mycic just before PPR .I think a good news is on the way.

I hope you are right! :)

Also from everything that I've read, only in very rare instances is even security screening known to span beyond three to four months.

According to this https://www.datapacrat.com/True/INTEL/CSIS/BACK9E.HTM less than 1% took longer than 12 months and even level III screening takes 101 days on average.

Just write that you have no plans to go anywhere else but Canadaonce you land, that's the whole point on immigration.

I don't know whether it's a tricky question, but it's certainly very stupid from them to assume an immigrant will take off and go back after he invested so much time & money

They have no right to reject you because of any email...well maybe if it was full of cussing/swearing and threats lol ....

As for being assertive, I think it was mainly about me reminding them of how much they are delaying me on purpose (for months) and stating that I deserve priority and any workload on their officers should not come at my expense and I need a reply asap or else I will be escalating my case (as in emailing the minister's office which i had done before and their reply was that they checked my case and with my visa office and I was on security checking which they cannot impact nor compromise on but this time the minister office would have seen that there was no need for any delay like this)

Don't be rude nor disrespectful, we are better than that and them (IRCC call agents are the rudest people I have dealt with) ....just be assertive while insisting on your right for transparent answers (as long as it is not security checking) ..and remind them of their laziness and incompetence indirectly and that you are human not a pile of papers :)
I'm a resident of Kuwait also, applied for PR application through Express Entry in 09 Nov. 2015, till now I'm still stuck in Background checks (security check). Is it possible to contact you by any means please. Thank you in advance
