hi, so I applied inland last August, recieved my open work permit last November. Then last month my cic updated that I had passed my medical (sent with original application) and now I've only just recieved my eligibility acceptance letter (and that my sponsor is eligible to sponsor me). I thought you were supposed to get this letter early on in the process (as in before work permits)? Any thoughts of how much longer it might take? Next steps? Is every thing happening in a weird order? I've tried to look on here and see when other ppl applied and their timeframes but I can never figure out where the dates are!
Thanks

Everything is in order. Check ECAS using the information of the sponsor: https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/authenticate.do?app=ecas
You should already see "decision made" on the sponsor side. If you see decision made also on the principal applicant side, then you know your application is done. If not, it's variable but it can happen fast. About a third of people get their DM within 2 weeks from the AIP, others get it on average 2 months later. Once you get your DM, it will be 2-8 weeks more to get your landing appointment depending in which area you are living.
With your AIP, you can already register for OHIP (if in Ontario) or RAMQ (if in Quebec). There will be a 3-months waiting period, but you can apply now.
