So when i receive my file number?

You'll receive the file number in AOR/acknowledgement of receipt of your application letter. It can take anywhere between 1-3 weeks or so depending on how busy CPC Mississauga is. Usually people get it in 10-15 days. Check the excel spreadsheet to get a better idea. Here's the link:

In my case background check is showing in progress on GcKey since Oct, 2016. but ecas has never been updated with background information for all these months. so i'd say only GcKey gets updated with this info

ok how do you have sooo much patience that the BGC started in Oct last year but you still haven't heard from them since then .. or have you ???

Well my application is still in process but what i get from others people comments that background check is updated on GCkey only. and yes even few candidates got ppr withhout getting any update regarding background check.

Remed Request 13 july 2017
Remed done 16 july 2017

PPR 28 july 2017

I am praying(Duas) for every one.(Specially 2015 applicants)

Most peoples are asking or telling BG take time. I am in Dubai since 2011 and currently this is my 4th job i dont think they asked to my every employer. I think they just verify to the Police department only.

I used the new kit released in December 2016, but now there's an even newer one lol. I don't think ECAS shows many updates other than the 3-4 lines about when the application was received and when it started processing, whether medical results were received, etc. Only GCKey shows whether eligibility, background check is in process and it doesn't even tell you when, you just have to keep logging in to check whether the status changed and then you'll know..

I applied in May 2017. The status on mycic changed regarding background check to in process but no update on ECAS. I also havent received the notification of file being transferred to visa office.

this status checking is killing me. I have literally got a red eye as i am checking it all the time
