Hi @legalfalcon. I have a couple of doubts and hope you can help me.

1) we applied for my husband's PCC and got it in a week. Later we realised that his passport will expire in mid 2018 so we applied for renewal and will submit only after New passport will arrive. Do we need to get a fresh PCC in this case.
Only if the PCC states the old passport number. If it simple states the name, then it is fine. If the PCC states the old passport number, then you will need to send a LoE, and a copy of the old passport. However, the discretion is with the IRCC officer to ask you for a new PCC. So to avoid that you can get a new PCC before you file, only if it mentions old PCC number.

2) What shall be done with the travel history...as he travelled a lot on old passport. Do we have to attach travel details from the old one? If yes then where? In travel section or personal section. Do we also have to upload old passport to support the claim?
Both. Your travel section should include all travel history, and your personal section should include all history after the applicant turned 18 or for the last 10 years which ever is earlier. In the personal history all serious should be accounted for. Include the copy of the old passport.

3) His ielts score is linked with old passport. Will explaining the reason for getting a new passport suffice.
IELTS has a pic and a numer. It does not matter with which passport you appeared for.

4) my husband has been to xiamen; China 5 times in last 5 years ... for approx 8 months
We tried our best but couldn't get his pcc.
We have all communication with private agencies, friends etc stating that it is very difficult /impossible to get one as my husband was on Business visa. We will quote US FBI website where it states that China dont grant PIC when on Business visa. How strong us our case if we explain all of this in LOE.
Draft a very strong, and succinct LoE. You will be fine.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Is there a template for the affidavit?

Also I am using my spouse's funds so I need a No objection declaration does this have to be notarized as well?
Affidavit for what?

No you don't need a no objection letter, but to be on the safer side, just add one.

Dear legalfalcon:

Just a last quick question: what should the translator's affidavit contain? Should it simply contain that the translated documents are true copies of the originals?

Thanks man
You are the best! Seriously

My employment letter includes my salary and I also included my offer letters that state my salary. Should I include paystubs as well or this should be sufficient ?

You only need pay stubs in you work in Canada. If you are outland, and applying under FSW, no need for pay stubs or IT returns.

IRCC states:

The following documents are mandatory for each work experience declared:

  • a reference or experience letter from the employer, which
    • should be an official document printed on company letterhead (must include the applicant’s name, the company’s contact information [address, telephone number and email address], and the name, title and signature of the immediate supervisor or personnel officer at the company),
    • should indicate all positions held while employed at the company and must include the following details: job title, duties and responsibilities, job status (if current job), dates worked for the company, number of work hours per week and annual salary plus benefits; and
  • if the applicant is self-employed, articles of incorporation or other evidence of business ownership, evidence of self-employment income and documentation from third-party individuals indicating the service provided along with payment details (self-declared main duties or affidavits are not acceptable proof of self-employed work experience).
If the work experience is in Canada, proof may include copies of T4 tax information slips and notices of assessment issued by the Canada Revenue Agency (the time period for these documents should reflect the work experience timeframe [e.g., work experience from 2006 to 2008 requires only documents from those calendar years]).

However, see the online account prompts against the place where you have to upload the documents. IRCC does change thing, and I haven't check MYCIC in a while. So if the online account prompt asks for pay stubs, then only include it.

Hi Legalfalcon,

I am having a headache with my UCI number and wondered if you would be in a position to advise.

I had two EE profiles. First one was ineligible. I created a second one, more accurate and got ITA recently.

No UCI number on my current EE profile. However, there is one on my previous EE profile (that was ineligible) - I can see it in my previous profile details.

I am confused, since the only PR application forms ask if I already applied to EE/PR and have a UCI number. I called the clinic to book the medical exam and they are asking about UCI number too. I understand that giving a wrong answer (whether I have a UCI or not) might have consequences (according to the clinic).

May I please ask for your opinion?

Thank you, it is also my understanding that UCI is applicant specific. I am not sure why I was given a UCI for my ineligible profile though.. now the medical clinic cannot find me in their "database" when I give this UCI. Really not sure what to do..
When you get an upfront medical, you don't need a UCI as it is generated after you file the application.

Thank you again for taking the time to reply - should I just ignore the UCI number that is mentioned on my previous ineligible EE profile? This is what caused confusion to me.

Just ignore it for now. When you have your application under process, they will issue you one and then you can see whether it is the same. Please let me know if it is the same.
