You can get the passport for the baby much sooner. Just show that you are permanent resident of Canada and tell them you are leaving such and such date. I went to the central passport agency in my city, applied in the morning, and picked up the passport in the afternoon. Did the same for my wife's renewal and newborn's first; they received theirs after a few days wait. As much as we spend on these immigration fees, and additional $60 to expedite the passport is nothing. Our last day to land is Feb 17 on which our medicals expire. I'm planning to land in October without my wife, stay a couple of days to start our PR and return to the US. The problem is, we're expecting a baby due in mid-January. In the US, it takes around six weeks to get a passport to a newborn so I don't think we'll be able to complete all the documents and get his/her passport before Feb 17.
1. I read in other threads that CIC may give an extension up to 3 months to complete the documents for a newborn but I couldn't find an information in the CIC's website. Does anyone know where I can get some official info regarding this issue?
2. If my wife comes with me to Canada in October and stays there until our PR comes which takes around 45 days, can she apply for a visa to re-enter the US from Canada? Her US visa will expire by that time.
3. How long does it take to get our health insurance card after getting our PR?
Thank you
Why do you need company? It's not a long drive to the Canadian border from new jersey.Guys booked my tickets. Planning to fly to US on July 30th and stay with my sister and family in new jersey and then fly to toronto. If I get company, we can explore the possibility of driving to Canada too !
Its a 8 hour min drive if I am not mistaken. And I am planning to rent a car.Why do you need company? It's not a long drive to the Canadian border from new jersey.
In my dictionary, a long drive is 10 plus hours. If you google, some people made it in 7 hours from the Canadian border to NYC.Its a 8 hour min drive if I am not mistaken. And I am planning to rent a car.
