Hello legalfalcon,

I have a question regarding reporting changes to my application. I applied for Express Entry as an Iranian citizen, while residing in Germany. In the meantime, a few months after I received my ITA, my citizenship application was accepted in Germany and I became a German citizen.

Now my question is whether this information is relevant for CIC and I should inform them about this recent change and if it can affect my application.

I would be very grateful to hear your thoughts on this.
Yes, this info is relevant. I am not sure if you can have a dual citizenship as an Iranian, which I doubt, but as soon as your were given German citizenship, you would have denounced your Iranian citizenship. You should raise a CSE and inform IRCC and also upload your citizenship documents.

You will also need a German passport, which is visa exempt, and will save you time later in the application process.

Hi legalfalcon, would be grateful for your thoughts on this. I'm having some problems w my ex-employer from 5 years ago:

- in employment letter for CIC, they said they can only summarise duties I've done, so many tasks I actually did which corresponds to my NOC were removed by them. Since its been 5 years, every colleague I worked with have left the company. I can get another colleague to issue a more detailed one, but I didn't work closely with him. Will CIC accept this?

- I took no pay leave for 2.5 months. there's a slight discrepancy of a few days (they said it was 3 Feb but I noted 23 Jan). Hence they left the dates out of letter.
Should I indicate the dates on a separate letter?

- I left on a good note (got several recommendation letters from my superiors and was in touch for a while with some of them). but now management is saying they're not pleased and only can issue letter out of "goodwill" for me. Im very disappointed because I worked really hard for that job, but at the same time uncomfortable with the idea, as Ill be submitting their namecards to CIC and don't want them to be point of contact. What should I do in this case? Should I just submit my colleague's more detailed letter?

Hi legalfalcon, can you give me suggestion in my situation? Now I just received the ITA with offer supported by LMIA which will expire in August. Currently I am working with closed wp which will expire in March 2019. My issue is my current employer is considering closing his business because of increasing rental fee in the coming August, if he deceive to do that, can I still claim the 50 points for the offer supported by lmia when I submit the application before his business is closed. I will appreciate any suggestion or similar experience shared here. Thx

Hi Legalfalcon, I have a couple of questions-

1. As I would already be there in Canada when my PR gets approved, is there a landing process which also needs to be followed after the PPR and what exactly it is?

2. Further, at that time also proof of funds need to be proved, can I also show forex card with bill or it is only bank statements (including Indian bank account)? One practically difficulty that if I want to take maximum forex with me when I go there (for initial rent expenses etc), correspondingly my bank balance would fall in India and therefore the fresh letter which would be issued by the bank would not show a substantial amount since the amount would now be converted into a forex card.

Thanks for your help as always

If you cannot get the reference letters from your employer, then you can get it from your colleagues who can vouch for what you did. You don't have to work closely with them. You can even get letters from your clients. Get as many letters, pay stubs and other documents issues to you, like your joining letter etc.

- I took no pay leave for 2.5 months. there's a slight discrepancy of a few days (they said it was 3 Feb but I noted 23 Jan). Hence they left the dates out of letter.

This would not make much of a difference. Just leave it out.

- I left on a good note (got several recommendation letters from my superiors and was in touch for a while with some of them). but now management is saying they're not pleased and only can issue letter out of "goodwill" for me. Not all employers are contacted. Only where there is an issue of a red flag, will IRCC contact the employer. If you decided not to get the reference letter from employer, you will have to explain it in LoE and also add as many letters from colleagues, other documents to substantiate your claim to make it work. It is eventually your decision.

It is the day on which you file your application which is most important. If on the day when you file your application, you have the job, you can claim the points for it. The day the application is submitted, it is locked. What happens after that is not of importance and does not impact your application. So see when you want to file your application and what is your status on that day.

Hi Legalfalcon, I have a couple of questions-

1. As I would already be there in Canada when my PR gets approved, is there a landing process which also needs to be followed after the PPR and what exactly it is?
YEs, landing is the last step of the PR Journey. When your application is approved, you will have to send your passport if you are not form a passport exempt country. You will receive a visa and a Confirmation of Permanent Residency (COPR) document. You will have two option, first, to exit the country and re-enter. Here exit does not mean you have to go back to your own country. You can simply drive to the border, exit, and refuse to enter the US, on which they will give you a slip and ask you to turn back (you do not need a US visa for this and it does not impact your chances of applying US visa in future.) When yo turn back you will complete the landing formalities.

Second, you can schedule an appointment with the IRCC office closet to you and get the formalities done there. The appointment takes 3-4 weeks.

For the PoF, you can use the same bank statement you submitted, or any other financial instruments. Not all applicants are asked for a PoF, but to have it with you is always good. If you have converted the money and wired it, you can show that. It need not be a bank statement, but any financial document in your name would suffice.

Thanks for your help as always

You will need to ask VFS if they will receive passports by courier, or they want an in person delivery. This is something specific to the country and office. The instructions will be there in the email. See the phone number of the VFS office and call them for the latest details.

Legalfalcon, wanna say that I am very grateful for your help. I was worrying myself over this.

So far the documents I have are: HR letter (with summary of my duties), 1 month pay slip from back in 2010 (lost the rest), 2 recommendation letters from my superiors when I left, and (possibly) bank statements from back in 2010. Are these enough? Unfortunately, I have lost my joining letter...

As mentioned, I intend also to get an ex-colleague to write a more detailed list of my job duties. If he can do it on company letterhead, is it still necessary to get it notarised?

My HR has indicated in the letter that my promotion from assistant to executive (this is the NOC I'm claiming points for, not the assistant one) was in March 2010. He's only stated the month and not the exact date, as he cannot trace it anymore. Is this OK? I would be happy to clarify in LOE...

This should be simple enough - call Vfs! And follow their instructions. If they say, he needs to be present, he needs to be present - no debates on that.

And we do have flights in India :)
