I am applying for a Canadian PR and Q4-k of IMM 5669 asks "Have you ever had any serious disease or physical or mental disorder". What is considered a "serious disease".

In particular, I had a stroke last year and surgery to install a coil and a hydrocephalus shunt. Now my condition is under control and I only need periodic CT scans to make sure that shunt is working correctly. Is this considered a "serious disease". I don't think so (because I don't think that having a stroke is a "disease"), but I'd appreciate if someone can point to a definitive reference.

A stroke is not a disease, but it's certainly a serious physical disorder. Yes - you need to mention it.

True, but it could be viewed as a serious physical disorder. You would need to assess the costs of your treatment and follow ups (CT scans) in terms of cost to the healthcare system annually. That would be the hurdle you need to overcome. Are you applying for spousal PR, as that comes with exemptions to the whole PR health issue?

You have extra fluid in your cranial cavity triggers stroke. It is a medical condition not a disease.
