Hi everyone;
I just read that the 2017 Family Sponsorship program is now closed (CIC is no longer accepting forms of interest to sponsor a parent this year). Does anyone know when they'll open it again? Where do they make those announcements? TIA.

The parents lottery will open again in January 2018. If you meet the income criteria for past 3 years, you can apply to lottery and hope you're picked. If you aren't lucky to be selected in lottery, you will need to wait until January 2019 to try again.

Thank you so much for the information! Do you have any idea where they announce when it's open or do I just have to keep checking the CIC website? Also, what is the minimum income requirement to sponsor a parent?

It will open the first business day in January, so January 2. CIC site will have more info towards end of this year. Since it's just entering for a lottery spot, there is no rush to enter once it opens you can do so anytime during January.

Income requirement depends on your family size, so you + spouse + kids + parents + parent's dependents. Income table you need to meet for last 3 years, is here:
