My pr application online says its approved and i have submitted my passport as well for the issuance of the permanent resident visa. But in my online account, it says that the document is valid till 2018-03-05.

What kind of approval is this?

Isnt PR valid for 5 years? Can somebody explain?

Also, my passport is expiring on 2018 - May 31. But the validity date doesnt even match with the expiry of my passport? Whats going on?

It is the validity of your COPR (Confirmation of permanent residence). It means you must complete the landing before 2018-03-5. That is likely the date of your medical exam, which is valid only for one year, and you have to land before that.

You are not a permanent resident until you re-enter Canada and complete the landing process. The visa allows you to travel to do this.

No, i gave my medical exam in January 2017. It does not relate to that + i am in Canada already on a work permit

Yes, you can do inland landing at one of CIC offices. Need to call the infamous call centre - although wait times are high unless your visa is expiring which it is not.

Waiting time depends on where she/he is located. For example in Calgary waiting time for appointment was not even 2 weeks

I have an issue here -

I filed for my PR in Feb 2017 and went to my home country in Mar 2017 & came back to Canada in April 2017. However, my COPR document says old date for the "last entry in Canada" - It says a date of September 2012 (when I came to Canada on a study permit).

Can somebody explain, if I was supposed to notify CIC about my recent visit to my home country in Mar 2017 ? Will this create an issue for me?

Not an issue, just inform the VO when you complete your landing, they can correct it.

Will they hand me a new COPR with the correct last entry date or they will correct it on the current one?

Do you know what documents I have to carry other than my passport, COPR?

Do i have to carry any photographs?

I called ircc and they told me they ll send an email within 2 weeks confirming the date and time of the interview. Any idea how long is the interview process?

You will Get Information what to bring on the appointment email. Mostly itd:
- COPR
- printed appointment email
- paszport
- any work permit that you hold

Waiting Times depends on location
