Hi Guys!!!

It has been a long long journey for my dad and finally time has come and wait is over for him. Now he has an appointment with citizenship judge.

My Dad applied for his citizenship The application was received at the Case Processing Center in Sydney, Nova Scotia, on July 30, 2014.
His application was considered non-routine due to the following reason(s):

-additional verification are necessary in order to determine if you meet the residence requirement and you have been requested to complete a residence questionnaire (RQ),

-the RQ was issued to your constituent on October 27, 2015.
-your RQ and supporting documents were received on November 19, 2015.

And also he failed his test in first time but second time he passed it and went through interview process and was told to wait for our response.

Finally he got letter saying that he needs to appear in front of judge and bring all the document. It's not a in person appointment.
Judge will be on phone with Webcam.

Anybody have any idea what to bring and what to expect in interview? what exactly judges ask you when you go for hearing?

Your response will be highly appreciated. :)

I may be wrong but it seems to me that your father may not have passed the interview. Written test is one part and the other is the interview with the CIC officer to prove English or french proficiency.

Coz if it is related to residency then they may have asked your father to come in person to review all the documents.

Again just my thought and could be wrong.

His English is not that good and not that bad. He understands and speaks an average level. He had never spoken english english before he got in Canada , He learnt here nd took some government funded classes. When he gave his CLB test he scored 5.0 overall.

He is 50 years old and has been living in Canada since 2009. He came here on a work permit. He applied his citizenship with 1150 days.

Did he apply with 3/4 rule or 4/6 rule?

Are 1150 days including the vacation or excluding the vacation?
Did CIC officer tell why he is referring case to the judge?
There seems to be either the officer is not satisfied about the english proficiency at the conversation level or the officer thinks that your father has not met the residency requirement.
I suppose your father has submitted his CLB test as language proof, right?

Those days are excluding vacations!

He was never told that his case is non-routine and referred to see a citizenship judge. All he did just wait and wait for years and years now finally CIC confirmed a appointment with judge.

There is not a single possibility of not meeting the residency requirement because he has 1150 days in calculation.
And yes he submitted his CLB certificate as a proof of his English. The certificate was issued at government funded training institute here in Saskatoon.

Here is a link:

Whenever there is additional document request the case changes to non-routine.

As per your information, I am not pretty sure why interview with citizenship judge is scheduled.
Did you order GCMS notes?

All I can say is best of luck and good wishes to your dad!

Hi Experts and Members!!! Here is the outcome after attended appointment with CJ

So my Dad attended the appointment with citizenship judge. He brought all the documents and a copy of application with him.
It was a video conference appointment on computer. The CJ ( lady officer ) was not satisfied with his total number after days in his application and somehow my Dad was missing 3 days in his total number of days spent in Canada before applying to citizenship. CJ asked him few questions about the Saskatchewan and some general question. And also CJ checked his passport and all the stamps he had in all passport. CJ seems to satisfied overall with other things. Finally my Dad was told that he will get reply from CIC in 60 days.

Hello guys !!! So I checked ecas today for his citizenship after interview with CJ.
Ecas has been changed today in Decision Made but the line in ecas not added yet.
Anyone have any idea that how long usually take to add that decision line on ecas?

There could be two possibility either he will get a oath letter appointment or he will have to reapply again .
