i'm a partner in a partnership firm as well as a director in a private limited company. how do i show the proof of employment?

couple of documents i could share:
1. partnership deed. For private company, i have the MoA, etc.
2. partnership firm- i have the tax returns that show the income i made through the firm. The accounts will show the same but i am wondering if i need to show past 10 years of accounts?
3. the pvt co. is a loss making unit- hence while the tax returns are there, the accounts don't show any 'income' paid out to me.

is the above sufficient? what else would i need to show proof of employment?

You will need to show Certificate of Incorporation/Registration, then to prove your ownership you will need official document stating your shares/control in that firm, and any other official proof that proof that you own a running business.

To prove your income you will need an official letter from a client(s) that states the services being provided and the amount being paid.

Income Tax Return are not needed to be attached unless asked for by the CIC.

thanks. most of our customers are government agencies- we can show proofs of remittances and contract awards. getting a government agent to give you any kind of letter is near impossible. since there is more than one partner in the firm, do i need to show specifically if i was doing some work or is that not relevant (the other partner is my mother, since it's a family owned business, and really she's just a silent partner)

for my pvt company, i can actually get letters of reference, remittance letters from the bank (as and when payments were received) although it's been a long time. does it need to be specific intervals or any proof of income is OK?

For Self-Employed people proof of work is the most important thing for CIC. They need any third-party independent Official letter that states what services are provided and amount paid against these. So a letter from client is what CIC recommends but you can arrange any equivalent third party letter as well.

just want to point out that this is different from self-employment. these are actual organizations with employees. i can obtain references from clients for one company and have order copies/payment instructions, etc.

For CIC purpose I think Self-Employment is meant to be any person other than those employed. This includes people with own business or in partnership. As for tax purpose partners in business are categorised as Self-Employed. However, you may check with others for clarification, maybe I am wrong.

That's my understanding also.

would this mean that my selection as 'senior manager' in the NOC code is incorrect?

as proof of work, i can show actual contract awards, bank statements, payment advices, etc. would those suffice? our clients are government agencies and you couldn't motivate them to write you a letter

Adtjindal, did you end up submitting client referral letters? I'm in the same boat as you. Government clients that won't write much on their letterheads. What did they end up writing for you?

Reviving old thread, but I need similar guidance. Preferably from some other partner who went through the process.
