Hi guys, I got a question here... I am a Canadian citizen and sponsoring my wife from Japan.. The manila office has started my wife's application on December 28th and today i just got an email saying that the Manila VO is asking my wife to provide her police check from Japan. Does it mean that we are getting closer to receiving her PR? Or am I thinking too much??? To give a bit more info on our process.. We submitted our application on Dec 13th and I got my SA approved on Dec 22nd and for a notice saying Manila started her application on Dec 28th... We had submitted and paid for everything upfront already but was told by our lawyer to not worry about her Japan police record until the government asks for it.. I am hoping this means that we are getting closer on being able to reunite.... One thing I want to add though is that I still haven't been able to link our application... i have tried everything possible...

Try this:

Not mine. Credit goes to the owner.

"1. Logged in with GC Key account.
2. Permanent Residence > Family Class (Spouses)
2. Application Number and Family Name - Copy/pasted application number from email (including the F) and entered PA's last name. If you don't have App Number, use Family Name, Birthday, Place of Birth
3. City of Birth - I entered 1 space (hit spacebar once)
4. Country of Birth - Selected PA's country of birth
5. Passport Info - Did not enter any passport info
6. Other Application Info - Filled out the other application info as per our application and put '2' as the number of members in the application."

Yes, you may be close to getting the PPR. Straightforward apps from Manila averages from 4 to 6 months.

I've replied to your other post.
Here's an English thread for Manila VO: Click here.
Not much is in there, but at least everything is written in English.
I stand unable to link my application as well, and unfortunately these instructions didn't work either.

I'm not very far ahead, only a few days past AOR2, but these are my wife's details right now:

Where is this application? Details
Application/profile status Open
Review of eligibility Review in Progress
Review of medical results Passed
Review of submitted documents
Scheduling an interview Not needed at this time
A background check is needed Not Started
Final decision Not Started

Obviously a lot of patience will be needed.

I realize that there is an English thread, but to be honest, I get more information from this thread than any English ones. They are not active, while this one is. I can not speak Tagalog or Bisaya, but I can read what you all write, and look for words that I know, and figure out what is being written. I hope that it's ok that there are English speakers in this group.

One other thing that does bother me a little, since I've read someone saying that there was an agent calling his wife to ask for documents, is that my wife lost her phone and thus her prepaid Globe SIM card, thus essentially the phone number that was on the application we submitted. Since it's prepaid her only option was to get another prepaid SIM card and a new number.

And there doesn't seem to be an option to send updated contact details for the applicant that I've seen. Oh well, at least now that I've linked her account and put her email address to receive updates, I guess she will receive notifications if there are such requests. I will also check her status very regularly.

When did your wife lose her phone? Have her go to any Globe Business Center and request for a new prepaid sim to have the same number she has been using.

I thought of that, but the only issue is that I don't know how she would prove that she used the old phone number.

Since it was a month ago or so and she already gave that new number to everyone she knows, it might be simpler just to send a request to have it changed (thanks prvc for the link).

Nothing to prove. When she gets there, just tell the staff that she is getting a new sim but would like to have the same number she has been using. I've done this quite a few times now to one of family members who kept on "giving away" his phone to taxicabs :D

Has anyone request Access to Information At regarding their application? If so, how did it go and how much information did they provide you with?

We received our PPR!!

Now we're confused by which fees need to be paid, and for which services, to the VAC in Tokyo?
Does per applicant mean a total of 2 - 1 each for my wife and child, or is it just 1 for the primary applicant?

Service Charge for Application Handling — Price per Applicant*

Do we need the following as well?
Secure transmission of passport to the Embassy of Canada in Philippines, upon request by Visa Office (for example, electronic application) - Price per Passport(CVAC→Manila→CVAC)

SO close now, and yet still so confusing!

Thanks again for all of the amazing support on this board.
