Guys

I NEED URGENT HELP!

I just received an email from CPC Ottawa requesting for the police certificate from China for my wife and they have given me a month to provide it else the application may be refused. She worked there for an year in 2008-9.
The mail also says that it is a final reminder although I was never sent any request before this.

This is the third time I am requesting this information on this forum and I got absolutely no response to it on all occasions which is very surprising considering this forum has so many members from China.

My questions are:

1. Has anyone ever requested for PCC from China? If yes, can you walk me through the process? Please understand that I have no one living in China who can help with a request like this.

2. Has anyone been in a situation where they were sent a final reminder although it was actually the first one? How to handle something like that?

PLEASE HELP!!!

I am sorry to say that you may not get much help here. Because most people who need a PCC from China are Chinese like me, and we do get our clearance via a totally different process from foreigners. For me, I need to go to the police station which my permanent address belongs to with my Chinese ID and other required files. Since you are not Chinese, I have no idea where you should go at all or even how to start.

Yes, it seems to be as easy as what the website indicates. However, because SAK1979 cannot find a representative in China, and policies are different even between police stations in the same city, lots of work needs to be done.

My suggestion is first find a representative, for example, a former workmate or friend of your wife, and let him or her check with the police station in person. Remember you owe your representative a lot, since it is a really tough job to deal with authorities in China.

Otherwise your wife can visit the place where she worked in person, and check with the local police station to see what is required. It will not take long if they agree to provide the certificate. The hardest part is to find where you should go, and then gather all the weird files they ask.

Contact the closest Chinese consulate to you. They should be able to provide better guidance in obtaining the police certificate.

Thanks Sapeter. I talked to a representative from a website called visainchina and although she said they can do it, it will cost me around 600 bucks to get it and it will take 2 months or more.

I don't have that time given I am supposed to send it to CIC in 1 month.

A representative doesn't have to be some official organization or government authorized person. Any one you know that can help you would be OK as long as you authorize him on paper. Move forward ASAP since 1 month is really tight.

Well, the "first notice" would have been the application instructions.

This may provide some useful information as well, depending on the type of visa your wife had.
https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/fees/reciprocity-by-country/CH.html

If you go for the service provider (the cost is OUCH, I know), document your efforts to get the PCC (e.g. copies of your application, communication with the Chinese agent), and respond to IRCC's request before the deadline with proof that you have applied for the PCC, the time frame for getting the PCC, and request an extension. I can't guarantee that you will get the extension, but if you let the deadline pass without any response, I can guarantee that CIC will return your application.

Hello Everyone, one more in the same situation.

I was living in Shenzhen, China for two years (1 year with Business Visa and 1 year with Working Visa).
Now i live really near China, so go there is not a problem. But after call the police station in Shenzhen, they told me only can issue me the PCC if i am resident now, they can't issue me from the time i was living there.

Anybody in the same situation? I contacted the agency visainchina.com, but no reply at the moment.

Thanks

Hi All,

I have gone through this issue of getting China Police Certificate, and I just want to leave my experience here so people in the same situation can have some more reference.

I had lived in two cities in China over the course of 5 years, with many long and short term visas of two types. The problem I had was that I hadn't kept any of the TRRFs, which is the paper the police gives back to you once you regitser at the police station. The TRRF's are necessary for the police to reissue you the PC, otherwise they cannot find you in their system. Which for me doesn't make sense, cuz they should be able to find you simply by typing in your passport info. But anyways, it is also important to know that in China every single city or province has its own system for retrieving this data, so you will have to get informed in the city(ies) where you lived.
I was lucky to have friends helping me in both cities where I lived, so they could get the information from the police directly, which is then how I found out I couldn't get the PC issued without the TRRFs I had received back then. They also asked the police if the police could reissue the TRRFs, but the police said that either it was too long ago, and the management has changed, or that all records are deleted from teh system once a foreigner exits China.

Anyways, the story is a bit longer, but in summary, I ended up writing a CLEAR letter to the IRCC explaining all the steps I took to try and get the PCs, with supporting evidences (such as letters from my friends, exchanges of emails with embassies and consulates - which by the way cannot help in this issue), clarifying exactly why the PCs were unobtainable for me.
In the meantime, I had also contacted agencies which were going to charge thousands of dollars, but I felt like they were gonna end up just writing and unobtainable letter for me and not get the PCs anyway, so I decided to do everything myself with help of my friends there. But if you dont have people there to help you, I believe the agencies would be a good help.

Anyways, just in case anyone does this letter as well, note that I didnt get reply on it, and the next I heard back was like 3 months later asking me to go for the landing interview to get the PR issued. So I had a happy ending after all. But I emphasize: in your letter, DO NOT LIE, and be CLEAR and POLITE. I think it helps make everything better and make the job of the immigration officer better too, after all they are here to help us.

Cheers!

Hi Danteamk,

You are a life saver. I have been going through the same since November. So for the past six months I have been going back and forth with friends in China about this however they were not as helpful and thorough as your friends. I was a student in China for 5 years. I wonder if my situation is still the same as yours? Its so frustrating and hurtful that something as unfair as this can half the processing of your application. Please, if you have any official proof showing that the TRRF is needed and is something you CAN NOT retrieve from the police station, I would be very thankful. My email is aaa.hanan3@gmail.com. Thanks a lot again!!
