No signature from immigration officer in COPR on landing..is this fine?

Hi all,

I landed today and got a copy of COPR with my signature only. There is no signature from immigration officer. Is this normal? They did put a stamp in passport.

Please share your experience.

I landed with my wife 2 weeks ago. On her COPR, officer put a two stamps with date and his signature, plus my wife's siganture. On mine, he puts a stamps only, I noticed it and asked him about his missing signature. He said: "yep, you are right", then he puts a signature.

So beside " immigration officer" field on ur COPR is blank?? .the officer just wrote the date with no signature nor stamp??

My COPR has the officer signature beside the "immigration officer" field. There is no stamp on my COPR. i think that his signature is important? If i were u i would call CBSA and ask them about this situation. It is good that u realized that so early.

When I was in Service Canada, to make a new SIN number, they checked if we have a stamp in passport. They was surprised that in our case, immigration officer didn't put stamps in passports. They said "Officer supposed to do this, but they are doing on border whatever they want to do...".
But stamps with date on our COPR and signature of immigration officer was enough to make a SIN, apply for health card, open a bank account, approved a credit card application in my case in Alberta.
My advice, you should go on Monday to Service Canada and try to make a SIN number. They supposed to help you or give any advice.

Thank you for clarification. As i can see that there is no standart way. Some people get stamps on COPR , others get stamp on passport and no stamp on COPR. but i think the officer signature is the most important item on the COPR.

As u suggested, service Canada can help in this situation.

They put a stamp in my passport but missed in the copr paper. Thanks for the details. I will apply for SIN on monday. Hope this will work

Probably, Service Canada can't repair a mistakes from immigration officer, but they supposed to help you and give any advice how you can repair it. If stamps on COPR are mandatory, I think that they send you to CBSA on border on land/airport or Canada Place, whatever is closer in your case. Thats only my ideas.

I'd say it doesn't seem to be the norm. Technically, the immigration officer is supposed to put their signature on your COPR, or atleast, that's what I was told when I went to get my SIN. At Service Canada, they made sure *everything* on my COPR was filled correctly, apart from checking the stamp in the passport. Perhaps you should call Immigration and check with the agents over the phone? You could ask for another appointment at the closest immigration office or go to the nearest land border to get the paper signed. In my opinion, it's better to get this fixed just in case...you don't want it to affect your citizenship application some point down the line. Good luck!

Someone else said yet didn't have a stamp on their COPR, that'll need to be corrected too. Happened me and was unable to renew my OHIP because of if. Called CIC and they said it needs to be stamped as its a legal document and I'll need the stamped version if I want to renew my PR card in 5 years.
Was very straightforward to get corrected back at the POE but annoying that the mistake was made.

Thanks for the update. Do I need to cross the border again at rainbow bridge and follow the same procedure along with my family or there is an workaround? Please let me know how you did it?

I was going home anyway for Christmas so just got it corrected when I landed back at Pearson.
You could try and make an appointment at the CIC office at Kipling? It's not massively urgent but it does need to be corrected so waiting a few weeks for an appointment should be fine.

Thanks again. I am planning to do it asap as without this I believe they will not update our OHIP as our ohip was issued when we came here on WP. If I plan then again I need to cross corect?
